We want to share that Dr. Lauren DelTosta’s last day with us was Friday, August 8th. While we’re sad to see her go, we are incredibly grateful for the time she spent as part of our team and the compassionate care she provided to so many of our beloved patients.

Please join us in wishing Dr. DelTosta all the best! She will be greatly missed by our team, clients, and patients alike.

As always, the rest of our veterinary team, including Dr. Kristin Haviar, Dr. David Haviar, and our newest addition Dr. Marlena Holter, is here to provide the high-quality care you’ve come to expect from Animal Hospital of Rocky Hill. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call with any questions regarding your pets care!

Thank you for your continued trust and support!

We hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July!! ❤️🤍💙

🎆🐾 4th of July Safety Tips for Pets
Firework anxiety is not the only risk to pets during the 4th of July. Keeping pets away from human food and drinks and other potentially dangerous debris such as glowsticks, bug repellent products, plastic decorations, and other hazards.

Here’s how you can help keep animals safe this Independence Day:

✅ Make sure pets have ID tags & up-to-date microchip info
✅ Keep pets indoors during fireworks - loud sounds can cause panic and escapes
✅ Avoid giving pets table scraps, especially toxic foods
✅ Make sure animals have shade and fresh water
✅ After the festivities, check your yard for leftover debris or fireworks
✅ Never leave pets in hot cars, even briefly
✅ If you’re traveling, consider a trusted pet sitter or boarding option

Most importantly, contact your veterinarian with any concerns you have about your pet during holiday celebrations. Learn more from the AVMA here: https://www.avma.org/resources/pet-owners/petcare/july-4-safety

April is National Heartworm Awareness month!

The American Heartworm society recommends giving pets preventative heartworm medications YEAR ROUND- regardless of location, weather, or lifestyle of the pet. Additionally, a preventative Heartworm screening is recommended each year at your pets annual exam.

Animal Hospital of Rocky Hill has everything you need to protect your pet from heartworm disease AND treat your pet if he/she does test positive for heartworm infection.

Heartworm is spread through mosquitos, meaning any pet, whether they spend most of their time outside or not, are susceptible to heartworm infection. The incidence of heartworm infection in Connecticut continues to rise year after year, though cases are extremely prevalent in the south. Many rescue dogs come from the south- so it’s pertinent to test new rescues ASAP for heartworm disease.

Heartworm infection is incredibly serious and is fatal if left untreated. The safe administration of heartworm prevention relies on your pets yearly screening (a test which also screens for tick borne diseases like Lyme), so don’t put off these important measures.

If you are unsure of your pets heartworm status or are in need of your pets monthly heartworm preventative, please call our office at (860)563-1027! For more information on heartworm disease please visit heartwormsociety.org

A little about us...

Over the last 30 years, the Animal Hospital of Rocky Hill transformed from a neighborhood pet clinic into a full-fledged animal hospital, offering comprehensive and high-quality veterinary treatment. While the scope of our services continues to grow, the commitment to our patients and their owners remains unchanged.

Established in 1979 by Dr. David Haviar, the Animal Hospital of Rocky Hill is a modern and well-maintained facility, dedicated to staying ahead of the veterinary medicine curve. The Animal Hospital of Rocky Hill isn't just family owned, it's also family operated. Dr. Kristin Haviar and Dr. Jason Haviar work alongside their father.

Aside from various pet wellness programs, services at the Animal Hospital of Rocky Hill include acupuncture, veterinary surgery, laser surgery, pet pain management, laser therapy, veterinary diagnostics, veterinary emergencies, canine and feline pharmaceuticals, and pet dental care.
