News Regarding Product Shelf Life.

Based on years of testing and observation, we have determined that our recommendations for usability of open bags should be adjusted. Previously this period was up to 6 weeks, based on our observations and customer feedback we are changing this recommendation to 8 weeks.

Please note; our product currently has directions printed on the bags that say “6 weeks”. Due to the way our packaging is produced, it may take several years to go through some existing labels.

As always, the best way to store a bag of Harrison’s Bird Foods, unopened or opened, is in the freezer or refrigerator, inside the original Harrison’s heavy-duty foil-lined packaging, with the air squeezed out, and zipped shut. This recommendation remains the same. Utilizing the "Date Bag Opened" on the back of each bag, noting the date when the product was opened, will help you measure product freshness.

Did you know that February is National Pet Dental Month? It's not just dogs and cats that need dental care, but ferrets too! Ferrets are unfortunately prone to dental disease, which means that they can develop painful gingivitis and dental plaque that can make it difficult for them to eat. All ferrets benefit from having yearly dental cleanings, in addition to their yearly health check ups. If you would like to schedule an appointment for your ferret, please give the experienced staff at Maryland Avian and Exotics Veterinary Care a call!

Check out our new intensive care/surgery recovery unit. We built our new unit for closer monitoring of hospitalized and/or post surgical patients. The incubator (top) provides oxygen and gives us the ability to nebulize patients without removing them from the cage.
