Why are Cavalier King Charles (CKC or Cavaliers) Spaniels such good pets? CKCs are renowned for being sweet, affectionate, and social. They have been bred to crave human attention and thrive on it! They are gentle with children and adults alike and, as such, are wonderful family pets. Although CKCs are happy lounging on a couch, they have an athletic spirit and enjoy playing in the yard and taking trips to the park. CKCs are also considered very emotionally intuitive, often knowing when owners are upset and offering extra affection and comfort.

Why do Cavaliers thrive on integrated veterinary medicine? Combined conventional therapies (surgery, pharmaceuticals) with more holistic modalities (acupuncture, nutrition, rehabilitation) perfectly suits some of the unique issues known to Cavaliers. In mitral valve disease, supplements such as CoQ10 and specific fatty acids can be used in conjunction with conventional medicine to support heart function. Hip, knee and neurologic issues inherent to the breed can be alleviated through acupuncture, low-level laser therapy and physical rehabilitation. And gastrointestinal sensitivity can be reduced through less processed foods and tailored diets.
