𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐏𝐢𝐱𝐞𝐥! She's had a rough road, coming to the Richmond County Animal Shelter - RCAS after being shot. She had to have surgery on her hip to get the bullet fragments out. She then surprised the shelter with 8 healthy pups which all went to rescue.

Pixel is all up to date on shots and will be scheduled at adoption for spaying. She is currently in foster care and will need to be scheduled for meet and greets.

The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 1pm to 5pm as well as Fridays from 1pm to 3pm! You can call them at (910)895-0335.

🐾 Meet Ava 🐾

This sweet girl was found as a stray on Ghio Road in Hamlet. We're calling her Ava, and despite everything she’s been through, her gentle heart still shines. 💔

Ava has some old scars that appear to be from a previous accident—likely hit by a car—but she doesn’t let that stop her from being affectionate and trusting. She's calm, kind, and just wants love. 💕

If you recognize her or think she might belong to someone, please let us know. Otherwise, Ava will be looking for a forever home where she can finally feel safe and cherished.

This sweet 3-year-old boy is Drake — a handsome pup who was sadly surrendered by his previous owner through no fault of his own. 💔 Despite the changes he's faced, Drake has kept his gentle and loving spirit.

He will be scheduled for neutering at the time of adoption, so he’ll be all set to start his next chapter with you. 🏡

🚫 REMINDER: It Is Illegal to Dump Animals 🚫

We want to remind the public that dumping animals—especially at the shelter—is ILLEGAL and considered animal abandonment. This includes leaving animals at the gate, in the parking lot, or in surrounding areas without proper intake through animal control or the shelter process.

💥 If you are caught dumping an animal, you CAN and WILL be charged. Animal abandonment is a criminal offense.

If you find a stray or are unable to keep a pet, please go through the proper channels. Contact animal control for assistance. Dropping off animals without permission not only puts them in danger, it puts unnecessary stress on already full shelters.

🚨 Summer Heat Reminder for Pet Owners 🚨

It’s HOT out there — and if you’re feeling it, imagine how our furry friends feel!

🔥 Roads, sidewalks, and sand can be 20x hotter than the air! If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws. Please walk them early in the morning or after the sun goes down to avoid painful burns.

🏡 For pets that live outside:

Provide plenty of shade or fans to help them stay cool.

Change water often — standing water heats up quickly and can grow harmful bacteria.

Prioritize hydration above all!

Summer can be dangerous for animals — let’s do our part to keep them safe, cool, and comfortable. 💧🐾☀️
