Thistledown Kennels (Cairn Terriers) I show and raise cairn terriers for myself first then for pet. Health guarantee, AKC papers, 5 way I raise and show cairn terriers from my home.

Most of my puppies go to pet homes that have had cairn terriers most of their lives and are replacing their long loved Cairn that have passed away. Some go to show homes. I do not sell to anyone and everyone that calls, I do screen and care where my puppies go. Cairn terriers are long lived and hearty, that does not mean they do not have some issues at times, but it is very rare. With corky person

alities and a variety of colors, this little dog, that acts like they are a big dog, will truly be a delight to almost any home. Considered non-shedding (they do shed some, but so little I can't tell) and hypoallergenic. I feed holistic dog food and feel they do the best on a more natural diet. I spoil my dogs and have been known to buy $100 (or more) in toys at a time... love my dogs. If you are interested in knowing more about me and my cairns please call me. Expect about an hour call. I'm old school and find texting and emails are time consuming and not a way to get to know me or for myself, to get to know you. Remember these are babies, not something to be tossed aside or ordered by mail, they are family members. If you enjoy talking cairns, I sure do! The way I look at it if you are to shy to call, then you’re to shy for a terrier. Heads up though, if you’re looking for just a pet and not a family member, than please find one elsewhere. I’m only looking to place pups for those that view their cairns as part of their family. I feel these guys are special, that’s why I only raise cairns. I hope you are as fanatic about them as I am. So fanatic I spend $6,000 or more to go get most of what I have from the best show homes in Europe. They have been carefully bred with health, confirmation, and personality as key elements. All my puppies go and to fantastic, wonderful homes and I will continue to produce amazing puppies that are healthy, smart and looking like a cairn. Another grooming day. This is our 6 year old Quinn from Hungry. He has an all champion background. He’s passed his eye, heart, patella and DNA wisdom panel of 266 known genetic markers. He has given us beautiful pups. I have 2 of his daughters here. Showing him this weekend. We had so many hiccups showing in the past several years. So very happy to continue showing this beautiful sweet boy. He’s older but that’s ok. He is not up for adoption. But he will be the grandfather of the fall litter and grandfather to the girl I have available.

Having a great day of grooming! Good day since it’s over 90 degrees outside. This is Sophie, she’s 4 years old. No she is not up for adoption. Just getting her ready to show. Looking at Belles pedigree I’m realizing that all my males in the past (almost are in the background) and were healthy lovely males. Theses will be amazing pups! One was going to a show home but it appears are backing out due to timing. All look to be silver brindle. They will be ready for their new homes on June 14th. I mentioned before that I would not be breeding until I have a list of people. As you all know I normally have a 6 month to a year waiting list. That is no longer the case. So before I breed again for fall I would need to know very soon ( like within a week or 2 ) if I am going to breed. So call for interview and details if you do want one this fall. You can’t care about gender or color obviously I can’t guarantee that. But I can guarantee a healthy, lovely cairn. 815-494-5964. I need 5 people.

Here are Belle and Bon Bons litter. Ready to go the second Saturday of June. One male is spoken for. The other 2 are not. One girl might be available, the other is going to a show home. Bon Bons background is from show homes. With champions. Belle was shown at 6 months and won a major against 8 other females. She silver brindle. Small and very nice. Bon Bon is cream. Very nice also! So hence why a show home is getting one. The adoption fee is $3000 for pet. Comes with akc papers, one year health guarantee, first shots, vet check, and deworming. Please call if interested. All are gone to their forever homes!

Happy memorial day to all! We have been extremely busy spring cleaning and painting our kennel. Grooming and of course taking care of babies so we haven’t posted in a while. Last week being very rainy and dark.

This litter is ready to go this next Saturday. Both boys are spoken for but I still have this red girl not spoken for. She’s a beautiful girl! Im not going to come down on her. If someone doesn’t want her she will stay and I will be homing mom. So if you are holding off, don’t. Her adoption fee is $3000 and comes with akc papers, deworming, one year health guarantee, and first shots. She will visit the vet before going. In the picture she is the middle of the bunch.
