Chemicoons Maine Coon Cats of Illinois

Chemicoons Maine Coon Cats of Illinois Maine C**n Cats bred for health, temperament & type. TICA Award winning. Our kittens go to approved, indoor only homes and with a no-declaw agreement.

We love, raise, show and breed healthy, sweet, large and beautiful Maine C**n Cats who have been screened for healthy hearts and hips, as well as those to whom they are bred, to ensure we produce the healthiest cats possible. No cat in our home is caged, and our kittens are all raised underfoot. We are a small cattery, with only 2-3 females and have only 2-3 litters per year to ensure each kitten

and cat in our home gets ample attention, the highest quality of veterinarian care and nutrition. I breed these wonderful cats to produce beautiful, healthy and sweet "gentle giants" for my own home-based breeding program and also in hopes of providing loving companions for other cat lovers as well.

For those inquiring about the artist who does all of my colored pencil portraits, I cannot speak enough of the work of Polly. She’s also incredibly reasonable in price. She’s currently taking reservations for slots if you’re interested. She does pets, people, and even airplanes (objects)!

*UPDATED: Chloe is tentatively reserved.

Regional Winner, Supreme Grand Champion Chemicoons Silver Chloride (aka Chloe) is being retired this summer, and I’m taking applications for her forever home. She’s 3 years old. She will be spayed, is current on vaccinations, DNA negative for all genetic health issues, has had her hips assessed via Pawpeds and found clear of hip dysplasia, and has had her heart examined three times, where it was found to be in perfect condition.

Here is her page: https://www.chemicoons.com/chloe

Meet Chloe, originally Snow White, from our Disney Princess litter (born the week before the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend races I ran). Her entire litter was amazing - with the best temperaments of an entire litter that I've ever had. They were sleeping in bed with me at 5 weeks old and pur...

As I wind down my 25+ years in the cat fancy, it’s bittersweet to have International Allbreed Kitten of the Year for a second (and final) time. IW BW SGC Chemicoons Charlie of Calicoon. Charlie went to live with my long-time friends and mentors, Lynne Sherer and Beth Hicks as “just a pet”. Then they decided they might want to show him at some regional shows. Then Lynne and Charlie were flying on planes to shows. Then we all held our breaths as we waited for the show season to end.

Sire: LA SGC Cuzzoe Gallium of Chemicoons
Dam: Lionheartcoons Bellissima of Chemicoons

I have no words to express my gratitude to Lynne and Beth for not only showing Charlie, but for their many years of friendship and support. They’re lifelong friends.

I also would be remiss if I didn’t thank Lium’s breeder, Justin Pelletier, and Bella’s breeders Roberto Calligari / Samantha Cantoia for trusting me with two amazing cats who made Charlie.

About Chemicoons

My introduction to this amazing breed occurred in 1999 when a professor in graduate school bought a kitten & brought him in one day. I was mesmerized by this stunning kitten and the rest, as they say, is history. In 2001, I adopted his full, younger brother. By this time, I had also attended a few shows with that Professor and realized I would like to show a cat in the spayed/neuter class. Unfortunately, my new baby didn't share the same opinion of showing so he was soon joined by a second Maine C**n companion. After a bit more success, I was hooked on both cat shows and more specifically, Maine C**ns. Educating myself about feline husbandry and Maine C**ns, showing my cats and networking within the cat fancy all laid the foundation for my own cattery and Chemicoons was born.

The name Chemicoons is a merger of the words "chemical" and "Maine C**n" which represents my two passions...my vocation as Chemistry professor and my hobby as Maine C**n enthusiast. My cats are named after various elements, compounds, famous scientists and all things Chemistry related.

I am an active participant in Maine C**n Breed Groups, am currently the elected Breed Committee Chair in TICA, the elected Regional Director of the Great Lakes region of TICA. I’ve served a term as the elected Vice-President of the Maine C**n Breeders & Fanciers Association (MCBFA), am a three-term elected breed committee member in TICA, involved in Feline Health Research and The International Cat Association, all with an eye on my main goal...to breed these wonderful cats to produce beautiful, healthy and sweet "gentle giants" for my own home-based breeding program, but also in hopes of providing wonderful companions for other cat lovers as well.
