We have two new faces at RDHS who were given a second chance, and now they need names!

We were contacted directly by Dog Is My Co-Pilot and asked if we could help an overcrowded shelter in Oklahoma. Their plane was making a stop here for fuel as they completed their 50,000th rescue passenger, and the Oklahoma shelter was extremely full. Even helping one or two dogs could make a difference.

We were told they trusted our shelter manager, our staff, and the way we care for the animals, and that meant more to us than they probably realize. We don’t take that trust lightly.

So, we said YES and pulled these two beautiful faces to safety!

🖤The black-and-white beauty is a female.
💙 The blue-eyed handsome guy is a male.

Hope is going to need a lot of attention and training.

Meet Hope ❤️

Hope looks to be a little bulldog mix (about 35-40 lbs) whose story is, unfortunately, one we’ve seen too many times.

It appears Hope spent much of her life being used for breeding. After producing litter after litter, she was no longer wanted and was dumped at an already overcrowded shelter. Dogs like Hope often miss out on the simple things so many others take for granted—kind hands, gentle words, and the chance to just be a beloved family member.

The good news? Hope’s new life starts now.

She has had her cherry eye repaired, is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and is finally ready to find a family that will love her for who she is—not for what she can produce.

Hope won’t be your best friend the moment you meet her, and that’s okay. Trust has to be earned. With patience, understanding, and consistency, you’ll watch her slowly realize she’s safe. The bond you’ll build with her won’t happen overnight, but it will be one of the most rewarding relationships you’ll ever have.

A few things to know about Hope:
• She cannot be left alone outside. If she becomes frightened, she’ll look for a way to escape.
• She isn’t leash trained yet and is only comfortable walking short distances at a time.
• She uses a dog door wonderfully here, but she’ll likely need continued potty training in a new home.
• Hope is nervous around other dogs, so slow introductions with calm, dog-savvy companions are important. She becomes overwhelmed easily.
• Because of her timid nature, we recommend a home with older, respectful children.

Hope doesn’t need perfection. She needs someone willing to give her what she’s never truly had: patience, security, and unconditional love.
