Today, we want to thank YOU — the citizens of Whiteside County and all of our supporters who follow and share our posts. Because of your dedication, our message reaches far and wide. You are one of the biggest reasons behind our successes, and we are truly grateful.

That said, our work is far from over. We continue to face serious challenges. The impact of COVID-19 is still being felt today — adoptions spiked for a couple of years during that time, but the aftermath has left shelters across the country, including ours, struggling to keep up.

In just the past 30 days, we’ve had to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize 47 animals. This is the harsh reality we are working every day to change.

Please continue to share our posts and encourage anyone looking for a pet to check with Animal Control first. The animals in our care are the ones most at risk for euthanasia, and your support can make the difference between life and death for them.

Together, we can save more lives.

As we hit the final stretch on 2025 here is a Humane County Update and the opportunity to shine a light on those who have helped us this year. I'm am blown away at the support we have had outside our County in the animals time of need. They answered the call and we greatly appreciate it. Please share this post with any and all of the rescues and humane societies on this list that have helped and let them know how much we appreciate them.

23 cats/ kittens transferred to rescues and 12 cats/ kittens surrendered this morning!

Before surrendering to our facility, please reach out to organizations on the Illinois Department of Agricultural site. There are 510 licensed rescues in Il.

We are doing what we can to avoid euthanizing to the best of our ability.

Surrendering here, we CANNOT guarantee animals will make it out to rescues or adoption.

TRANSFERRED TO A RESCUE!

Little Hera😍 she is NOT expected to get any bigger! (Except sideways).

She came in with another dog, she did great meetings other dogs, and she is the cutest little potato you ever did see!

Just 1 year old, she is fully vaccinated, not fixed, and is still healing up from her previous life.

Cases like hers and the dog she came in with, it is devastating to say life here in our facility is better than where ever they came from.

Her companion was HORRIBLY emaciated, uncared for and Hera was Underweight with horrible pressure sores.

None of this matters now. Her companion was transferred to a rescue and we are hoping Hera is transferred or adopted!

Why is he still here? No idea!
He is pretty darn perfect in our eyes!
Medically done? He sure is!
Dog friendly? Yep, he says hi! Bye! And goes on his way.
Cats?? No idea, but judging from his personality with everything else, we do not think he would care less about cats.
Kids? Maybe, just because he is a bigger older pal, older kids might be better, but we see nothing that would suggest him not being good with kids.

He has been here since June, too long!

As you can see from the 1st image, she was desperately trying to mentally prepare to meet the dog barreling towards her🤣

It is momma Chula's turn to be adopted or pulled to a rescue to find her forever home! Most of her pups have found their home, it's her turn!

As you can see, Momma Chula, ignored every ounce of anxiety body language that Lego gave of and SMOTHERED her with motherly kisses!

Not only did she do great with Lego, this loving girl managed to escape her kennel, joined another dog that we have not introduced yet, but we believe she might be EXPECTING! Chula wanted to be with her and did great, maybe she's
Spreading the motherly experience and advice!

Chula has been an amazing girl while with us.
Great mom, great personality, we cannot wait to see what is in store for her!

She had lived with children, other dogs, and cats with out issues!
