Takoda The Husky Service Dog

Tonight, the Mill Towne Tavern in Sanford, Maine denied a service dog team entry, even after the police informed the owner of the laws.

The owner said it was unsanitary. He also claimed that service dogs were only for physical disabilities.

Local friends and family, please do not patronize this establishment.

This person's extremely ableist remark is not uncommon.

I was always nice and said "I'm sorry, no, he is working."

I have been screamed at, called bit@h, cu next Tuesday. I have had people attempt to grab Takoda's leash, grab his tail, and ignore me when I say he is a service dog.
I Don't Go Out Shopping To Educate People.

I am allowed to have a life free from invasion of my space.

I ignore most people now and just walk away. No one is entitled to pet anyone's dog, especially a service dog.

Takoda and I went to WalMart today and...
People were respectful, kind, and helpful!
To the tall man whose name was Tom, Thank You for getting my creamer off The top shelf!
To the gentleman in the parking lot who helped Me change out my broken windshield wiper, in the rain, Thank you so much!
To everyone else Who was respectful, kind, Didn't try to pet Takoda and just commented from afar thank you!
Today, You all gave me hope for humanity.

At ClearChoiceMD in Rochester, NH for bloodwork. Takoda has not worked as much the last few years, but is going right back into work mode.
So proud of this boy!

I had this shirt made so people would stop talking to me when I am with Takoda or Artemis!

This is a completely unedited, spontaneous example of Takoda recognizing and responding to distress (me dislocating my toe). I thought it was broken at first but I was able to pop it back in.
Denali's nose makes a brief appearance when I go for the cookies to reward Takoda for recognizing I was in distress and acting on it.

This is how a correctly trained service dog should behave anywhere in public. I have faced more business owners trying to prevent Takoda and I from entering their business in the last 8 weeks, than ever before, because of people with untrained dogs they are trying to pass off as service dogs. Once I Stand My Ground and state the laws, and the business owners see how well behaved Takoda is, they tell me their stories. There are a lot of stories about dogs jumping around, barking, being completely out of control of the Handler. Those are not service dogs, this is.
