Folks, it has been a week!
We will be closed tomorrow, Thursday 1/20.
Let's keep our paws crossed we get to see everyone next week! Stay safe on the roads!
Information regarding school schedules for the remainder of the week:
Tomorrow, Thursday, January 20th, schools will be closed due to continued wintery road and sidewalk conditions affecting multiple areas of the city. Central Office personnel, please report on time. Grab and Go meals will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fallon Park, Lincoln Terrace, Fishburn Park, and Westside Elementary Schools.
As a reminder, Friday, January 21st is a previously scheduled On-Demand (Asynchronous) Learning Day. This means students will complete assignments as instructed by their teachers at their own pace and will not report to school. 12-month employees, including school-based administrators, please report. Currently, some schools have limited parking due to plowed snow and remaining ice; therefore, teachers and other school staff may work from home on Friday. Administrators will be onsite if teachers need to retrieve materials to plan for the start of the second semester on Monday.
Meal distribution for the virtual learning day will be available for families to pick up Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at all schools. By providing your student’s name or student ID number, you will be able to pick up both breakfast and lunch. Families with students attending multiple schools will be able to pick up meals at one meal distribution location.
Please remember when schools open on Monday, it is imperative for any student or staff member who is experiencing ANY symptoms of COVID-19, or who has been exposed to COVID-19, to remain home and to contact the school nurse or employee health for a return-to-school date. We also urge everyone in our RCPS family to get their vaccinations and booster shots if able.
Thank you for your continued support of Roanoke City Public Schools.
