Today, we celebrate the veterinarians, veterinary technicians, nurses, students, receptionists, educators, researchers, and support teams who dedicate their work to improving animal health and welfare.

At AEMV, we are especially grateful for the professionals who advocate for exotic companion mammals — species that are often misunderstood, underserved, and in need of knowledgeable, compassionate care.

As you enjoy your Easter celebrations, we’d like to share a few important pet safety reminders:

• 🍫 Chocolate can be toxic to pets
• 🌸 Lilies are highly dangerous, especially for cats
• ⚠️ Xylitol (found in sugar-free candy and gum) is extremely toxic to pets
• 🐦 Teflon/PTFE fumes (from overheated nonstick cookware) are extremely toxic to birds

If your pet may have ingested or was exposed to something harmful, please contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.
