Well guys… Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on Monday, Feb. 2 🫠
Which means…six more weeks of winter!!!❄️❄️❄️

So I asked Holly what she thought about it.
She had questions.
And zero patience.

Sir. Respectfully.
We are tired.
The horses are tired.
The water hoses are tired.
And my patience left sometime around week three 😅🐴

At this point, Phil and I need to have a conversation.
Holly’s ready to lead it.

🥶❄️ Bitter cold temps are here — let’s talk horse care! ❄️🥶

With these extreme winter temperatures, a few basics go a long way in keeping our horses comfortable and healthy:

🐴 Fresh, unfrozen water — Horses still need to drink plenty in cold weather. Heated buckets or frequent checks make a huge difference.
🌾 Free-choice hay — Hay is their internal heater! Extra forage helps them maintain body heat.
🏠 Shelter & wind block — A run-in, barn access, or even good wind protection helps conserve warmth.

For some horses, blankets can be a great added layer of protection, especially for seniors, hard keepers, clipped horses, or those sensitive to the cold.
