We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has reached out and offered thoughtful donations concerning the recent Doberman rescue. Your compassion means a great deal to us and the dogs we care for. We understand that some of you may have been waiting for a formal statement from HMDD. We made a conscious decision to refrain from public announcements and fundraising efforts until the dogs were legally and irrevocably placed in our care. This approach, though perhaps slower, was guided by our commitment to ethical stewardship: we believed it was inappropriate to solicit donations for animals that might, due to legal complexities, have needed to be returned.

We can now confirm that HMDD has custody of eight of the Dobermans from that recent rescue. Our team, including the HMDD chairman, a board member, and a dedicated volunteer, was actively present at the Henry County Humane Society last Friday. HMDD, the only purebred Doberman rescue in Ohio, was called in to help provide direct assistance with the intake process and helped with the initial exams of each dog as they arrived.

Thank you for respecting our process and for your unwavering support. With these beautiful dogs now officially part of the HMDD family, we look forward to sharing their progress and rehabilitation journeys with you.

Hi followers!

It’s been a while since we’ve posted here on FDP’s page. Life slowed down a bit when our beloved Abraham went into retirement a couple of years ago. Since then, we've been focused on enjoying his golden years and spending quality time with him and the rest of the pack.

We’re happy to share that Foster’s Doberman Pack is thriving! Abraham turns 12 years young next month — a true milestone! Our youngest, Echo, came back to us shortly after her departure due to no fault of her own. We're not complaining about it! She is the happiest pup and continues to keep the pack on their toes! She brings a spark of youthful energy into our home every day. I promise to share some updated photos in the coming days!

But today, there are Dobermans in need of our help.

There is a heartbreaking situation unfolding in Ohio involving a group of Dobermans rescued from a tragic operation — a place of minimal care and nourishment. These Dobermans have endured unspeakable neglect and will need love, patience, and rehabilitation to heal.

If you're experienced with the breed — or willing to learn — and have room in your heart and home, please consider fostering/adopting. Dobermans are not your average dog. They are intelligent, eager to please, and deeply connected to their humans. This is a working breed that needs stimulation, structure, and companionship. They do not do well with confinement or boredom.

Pebbles and I participated in Christiansburg's Christmas Parade last Friday. This photo was taken at the end of the parade... there's Santa🎅 in the background!!

We were part of the Winterfrost Farm/ ride a rescue 🐎 group and walked with the horses.
Pebbles was dressed as a Christmas tree that had actual lights 🎄😄. She was so festive and cute! 😍

Tons of new smells, noises, people, animals and flashy lights was such great exposure for her! We had so much fun! And She did so good! 🥳🥰 I couldn't be prouder!

The UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory (VGL) is offering a discount on genetic health testing for Dobermans, good through October 30!

WHY IS THIS HELPFUL? --> Genetic testing determines the genetic status of a dog for certain heritable conditions. This can help vets and pet owners make an early diagnosis of a condition or implement lifestyle/management changes that will prevent complications and provide greater quality of life for the animal and owner. For example, a dog that has the Von Willebrand type I variant may present with prolonged bleeding times (or slower clotting). This can be important to know if the dog needs to undergo surgery. Another disorder common to Dobermans is Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM). Dogs that have 1 or 2 copies of the DCM genetic variant are at increased risk for developing this disorder, which evolves to heart failure. Knowing if the dog has the DCM variant allows owners and veterinarians to monitor their health more closely and manage any early signs of disease as soon as it arises. This can ensure greater quality of life for the dog.

WHO IS DOING THE TESTING? --> VGL was established in the 1950s for the purpose of verifying parentage for cattle registries. Today, the laboratory is a self-supporting unit of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, providing animal parentage verification, identification, forensic services, genetic diagnostic testing and genetic research across species.

HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?
• Access the website at https://www.vgl.ucdavis.edu
• Select “My Account” and log into your existing MyVGL account. For new clients, select "create an account."
• Once logged in, select "Order Tests" then “Dog”
• Fill in the animal’s information and select “Doberman Pinscher Panel”. Read and check the “Terms and Conditions.”
• Click on “Save”
• Proceed to Checkout
• Enter the code "DOB23PANEL" and click “Apply Coupon”
• Complete the checkout process to pay for your order
• Once the sample arrives in the laboratory, a confirmation email is sent
• Results are sent via email

The coupon code will reduce the total cost of testing one dog sample by up to $20. The code is valid through October 30.

Empty nest 🪹🥲

We said goodbye to Echo💛 tonight as She left the nest to begin her new life journey. She definitely went to a loving home with experienced owners. I'm certain she will be very well taken care of 💕

Special thanks to her new owners for choosing Foster's and updating me already 🥰 I sure do love puppy updates! Seeing them happy, makes me happy. ❤️

Here's a photo dump from today's adventures! I was excessive with the shutter button today as this is our last full day with Sweet Echo 💛📷

That's right! Exciting news!
💛 Echo has been chosen and scheduled to leave the nest tomorrow evening! 🥰🥲...
(My last baby...Excuse me while I go ugly cry!😭)

Today we went on that fairly long road trip again to see our bestest friends! 🐾 Echo had a blast running and playing with Marco! She was again exposed to dogs of all ages, free range chickens, and this time there was a new Rooster! His loud calls didn't startle Echo a bit! She paid him no mind.

Echo exhausted herself by playing so hard! She napped with the friendly cat for a minute (a true cat nap 😅) and then we were off to Sinkland Farms to proudly show our support to our friends at 'Ride-a-Rescue' as they are having a trail & pony ride event there this weekend. Such an amazing crew of people with a wonderful heartfelt cause! ❤️🐎

🥰 Echo met lots of new hoomans and welcomed all their pettings and sweet compliments! Sooo many new smells she experienced today! The horses size, neighs, and movements didn't worry Echo at all! She remained calm and was taking it all in! She was even able to meet Breeze (blond horse) up close! She was so brave and curious!

Before leaving the event, she stopped to "smell" the ducks! Another first for her to experience! 🪿 They didn't want to play with us so we stayed on our side of the fence and admired them from afar.

💛Echo has definitely made her presence known at our Doberman home! She has brought us so much joy and laughter! We love her so much!

We're at peace knowing that she will go to a loving home with a new Doberman sibling! & She'll soon be a service dog in training! 😊 We're so happy for her, but sad to see her leave us! 🥰
