Snow day today 1/26/26! No one is making it in so we are closing! Be safe out there. The reports are all about icy roads!!

Roan Mountain Animal Hospital will be closed for the holidays from December 23rd through January 8th.
We will reopen on January 9th.

Emergency Care Options:

• Airport Emergency Clinic – Open Monday–Friday 5:30 PM–8:00 AM and all weekend

Messages & Appointments:
• Messages will be checked daily, and return calls will be made on regular business days
• If you need to schedule an appointment for when we reopen, please leave a message and we will call you back

Medication & Food Refills:
• Our office is open today (Dec 22) and tomorrow (Dec 23)
• You may also leave a message if you need refills, and we will contact you to make pickup arrangements

When Basset Hounds go to heaven they aren’t given wings. Their ears are just activated 🐶👼🏼
Fred is perfectly fine. He was just here for a routine puppy visit. His only problem is tripping over his own ears!

We will be closing early tomorrow October 10th due to the homecoming events in town. The road will be closed for the entirety of the parade. The clinic will close at 4pm and will reopen Monday morning at our usual 8:00 am time.

This sweet guy was found in Roan Mountain in the area of Bud Miller Road. No microchip.

I am going to have to break my leg more often. I had a motorcycle mishap on Cotton Plant Farm.

The care I received at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital was exemplary in every way. I was admitted through the emergency service, had surgery the next day, and was home the following afternoon! The doctors, nurses, and staff could not have been more caring and professional.

A big shout out to Carter County EMS too. I was able to drag myself out of the woods most of the way, but they carried me to the ambulance and to the hospital very promptly. Even the 911 dispatcher was an old family friend.

The Roan Mountain Volunteer Fire Department first responders also provided assistance. Thank you!

Mark Cornell and the folks from Mountain View Motorcycle Campground rescued my bike from the woods and are going to take care of it for me.

The Animal Hospital will temporarily be short one doctor but we will strive to provide care for all our patients!
