Riverwoods is a unique community in the Chicago North Shore area that was originally conceived to allow residents to live among the trees. Incorporated in 1959 from property originally part of the Ryerson Estate, Riverwoods carries on Edward Ryerson's tradition of living in harmony with the environment. Situated on the banks of the Des Plaines River, Riverwoods has easy access to the transportatio

n, retail and business amenities of the North Shore but provides a quiet and natural respite from traditional suburban living. Many properties within the village are large heavily wooded lots accessible from private roads where some residents are able to house horses. We are a small community of about 3500 residents and share public services with neighboring villages such as Deerfield, Lincolnshire, Bannockburn and Northbrook. The village is managed by a Mayor and a Board of Trustees. The village also has it own Police Department to service the community.

At least two Riverwoods Residents have reported receiving a voicemail message from "Agent" Jones of Cook County regarding an important legal matter and asking to be called back at 224-229-1245. This is a scam. Ignore these voicemails or hang up if you answer the call. If you spoke to the scammer and gave him any personal information, please call the Riverwoods Police non-emergency number, 847-945-1820, to report it. The Lake County Division of Transportation now plans to begin patching on Riverwoods Road between IL 22 and Deerfield Road on Monday, 5/19/2025 instead of today. Please plan travel accordingly.

Lake County Division of Transportation will be collecting geotechnical borings tomorrow along Deerfield Road in Riverwoods. There will be rolling lane closures with flaggers throughout the day. Expect delays and plan accordingly.

Please see the attached DSS packet from the National Weather Service. We are expected to see some severe thunderstorms this afternoon and into the evening. NWS is also predicting gusty winds this afternoon and into the night that could reach 45 to 50 mph. NWS is not expecting to issue another DSS Packet for this event

Key Messages:

Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and early evening
Strong southerly winds will materialize this afternoon, especially south of I-80, followed by gusty northwest winds area-wide this evening and tonight
A period of accumulating wind-whipped wet snow is expected late tonight, possibly impacting travel for the early Thursday morning commute

These are not legitimate messages from the Illinois Tollway. Please block and delete these texts. If you clicked on a link and entered personal information, please contact the Riverwoods Police Department at 847-945-1820 to file a report.

Please see attached for the current Decision Support Service (DSS) Packet from NWS. The High Wind Watch was upgraded to a High Wind Warning valid until Saturday morning. Note the potential for brush fires. Please note the potential for uncontrolled brush fires. Please do not engage in outdoor fires.

Key Messages:

Periods of strong to damaging non-thunderstorm winds are expected tonight and Saturday.
Strong winds, dry air, and dead vegetation may allow for uncontrolled brush fires, especially tonight.
A fast-moving line of strong to severe thunderstorms will move across the area tonight.

Meade will be working on behalf of ComEd on Saunders Rd, north of Deerfield Rd, from 2-3-25 to 2-17-25. The scope of work will include drilling 24 test holes along Saunders Rd to locate existing underground utilities.

We recently participated in the unveiling of a new park at the Village of Riverwoods, and of course, our boy Sheldon was a gem!

He brought so much joy to everyone, making the event even more special. Sheldon was such a perfect boy, he almost stole the heart of a Riverwoods PD officer's heart! We are so grateful for the community we are a part of, and thank you to Mayor Kris Ford, the amazing officers of the police department, and of course Village of Riverwoods for having us on this beautiful day!

And lastly, thank you to the community for their support and to Sheldon for being the best ambassador for our furry friends! 🥰
