Skin filler for pets?!? Sounds a little wild, right? 👀🐾
So why do we use it?
Many senior cats develop entropion, a condition where the eyelid rolls inward and the eyelashes rub against the surface of the eye (cornea). This can be painful and may lead to irritation, squinting, discharge, and even corneal ulcers.
We commonly see this in older cats with conditions like hyperthyroidism or kidney disease because weight loss can cause the eyes to appear more sunken, changing how the eyelids sit.
While surgery is often the traditional treatment, not every patient is a good surgical candidate.
That’s where dermal filler can help! By carefully placing filler around the eyelid, we can help “plump” and support the tissue so the lid returns to a more normal position and no longer rubs the eye.
