Jan Perkins graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. After working with a Veterinarian in Orem for 3 years, she moved to So. California and started Live Oak Dog Obedience in 1980, working with clients and veterinarians throughout the Los Angeles area. In 1995 Jan moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and started Live Oak Dog Obedience/Utah. Jan is also certified with the American Kennel Club as a CGC instructor and conducts tests throughout the year.
Kelsey Larsen, Jan’s daughter, has joined her to train in the Agility Classes. Kelsey has worked with her mom with training dogs and horses for the last 10 years. Kelsey is also an accomplished horse trainer and has her own business JK Farms. Live Oak Dog Obedience, LLC has been operating in Utah since 1996 and is an established local business. Jan has year round dog training classes in Salt Lake City and surrounding areas. Including indoor classes for the winter months. Most classes accommodate for work schedules. She also has private dog lessons. Most indoor classes are given at Dimple Dell Rec Center in Sandy and So Jordan Rec. Center and various other locations to practice manners and the skills learned in class. Personalized attention and individual guidance is given in all classes. Available classes and training sessions in Salt Lake area include: Puppy Class, Beginner-Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Tracking and Air Scenting Classes and Agility classes for all levels. Jan also trains dogs for Service and ESA certifications and prepares dogs for Therapy work.
Jan is a Behavioral Specialists helping clients to correct behaviors such as barking, not coming when called, aggressiveness, all puppy issues and all other problems that you might encounter.
During the summer Live Oak Dog Obedience also offers Rattlesnake Avoidance with Web Parton in the summer. Many other activities such as hikes and going out to eat and shopping trips are also offered for those who would like to practice dog manners and skills. Private classes around the Salt Lake valley and neighboring locations are also available.
