💚 Thank You, County 10! 💚

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to County 10 for hosting the first Adopt-A-Pup Cup and for inviting Paws for Life Animal League to participate.

We would also like to recognize the event sponsors: High Mountain Seasonings, Smith Creek Pet Resort, Bott Monument, Rendezvous Dental, RE/MAX All-Star Realtors, and Wyoming .com for helping make the event possible.

The evening gave several of our dogs an opportunity to spend time outside the shelter environment and interact with members of the community in a safe and structured setting. Visitors were able to meet the dogs, learn about their personalities, and see them in a different light than they might during a typical shelter visit.

As shelter staff, we were honestly relieved and thrilled with how well the event went. This was a new experience for many of the dogs and a new experience for us as well. County 10, the volunteers, and everyone who attended helped create an environment where both staff and dogs felt welcomed, supported, and set up for success throughout the evening.

One of the highlights of the event was watching local children interact with the dogs. Their patience, kindness, and enthusiasm meant more than they probably realize. Even when some of our dogs weren't comfortable participating directly, those kids still cheered them on, respected their boundaries, and helped make the event feel welcoming and positive.

Events like this also help illustrate something we talk about often: a shelter kennel only tells part of a dog's story.

Clyde was a great example of that. Clyde still has some very strong opinions about kennel life, and anyone who met him at the event probably noticed that. But he was also given the opportunity to step into the arena, show off his playful side, rack up the highest score of the evening, and remind everyone that there is much more to him than what people see through kennel doors. While he preferred to enjoy the kids' encouragement from a distance, he certainly seemed to appreciate having a cheering section.

Most exciting of all, one of our pups found a home and was adopted directly from the event.

Thank you again to County 10 for organizing and hosting this wonderful event, to the sponsors who helped make it possible, to the volunteers who kept everything running smoothly, and to every community member who stopped by to support the dogs. Opportunities like this help our animals be seen for who they are, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make that happen. 🐾💚

🐾 Happy National Hug Your Cat Day! 🐾

We discovered today that National Hug Your Cat Day is apparently a thing, so naturally we decided to celebrate by hugging every cat we could get our hands on. As you'll see from the attached photos, the results were mixed.

Some cats seemed perfectly happy with the arrangement. Some tolerated it because they are professionals. Some looked mildly concerned, and a few appeared to be questioning every decision that led them to this moment.

In the interest of scientific accuracy, we can confirm that not all cats share the same opinions regarding hugs.

Now it's your turn. Give your cat a hug if they'll allow it, snap a photo, and share it in the comments. We'd love to see their reaction and determine whether your cat falls into the "loves it," "tolerates it," or "will remember this betrayal forever" category.

Every so often, we are reminded that kindness has a way of lasting far longer than the moment it is given.

Some time ago, PAWS received a generous memorial donation that provided beds, cat trees, and other comforts for the animals in our care. Those gifts helped make life a little easier for countless dogs and cats as they waited for their forever homes.

Today, we would like to share the story behind that generosity and honor the memory of a remarkable young woman whose love for animals continues to make a difference.

Donations were made in loving memory of Shaedyn "Shae" Archambault, honoring her deep compassion and her love for PAWS. Shae spent countless hours at the shelter helping care for cats and dogs and supporting fundraising efforts. She had a special way of connecting with animals and cared deeply for all living beings, especially those in need.

Supporting the local animal shelter was something she held close to her heart. Through the generosity of donations made both during her life and in her memory, animals at PAWS have found comfort, enrichment, and care during their time with us.

In keeping with Shae's love for animals, her family shared the following message:

"If you are able, please consider volunteering or donating. Even small acts of kindness can bring comfort to the wonderful adoptable cats and dogs as they wait for their forever homes."

As Shae would say, "Today is going to be a great day."

📸 New Photo Shoot Day! 📸

We have some new faces joining the adoptable crew, so naturally they all got their turn in front of the camera.

we also decided to try a little photo editing.

The dogs look great.

The grass now looks like it was rendered by a 2004 video game and refuses to acknowledge reality.

Please ignore the suspiciously enthusiastic lawn and direct your attention to the adoptable dogs. 🐾😂

Huge thank you to Jennifer Smith and everyone at Absaroka Head Start for donating these nap mats to the shelter. 💙🐾
The dogs have been having an absolute blast with them.
Maggie discovered they make fantastic sound effects when sprinted across at top speed, Bee used hers as a cozy sleeping mat and slept peacefully through the night, and Honey became deeply committed to investigating the mysterious inner workings of the mats themselves. 😌
Before anyone worries, the damage was very minor, easily repaired, and honestly not unusual for shelter dogs. Some dogs shred blankets, some carry toys around like emotional support objects, and some become tiny foam archaeologists.
The mats have been comforting, entertaining, enriching, surprisingly easy to sanitize, and very appreciated by staff as well since they’re lightweight and easy to move from kennel to kennel as needed.
We’re so grateful to Jennifer Smith and Absaroka Head Start for thinking of the shelter animals and donating something that has already brought so much comfort, fun, and enrichment to the dogs in our care. 🐾💙
