Meet Scout!! 🐾🦮Scout is a 1.5 yr old, male, yellow, Labrador Retriever. He is good with other dogs, neutral with cats and horses, friendly and loves attention. Energetic, playful and always happy! He can be a little shy at first, but within minutes is your best friend. We are confident he will be a confident, social butterfly.
Scout loves water, playing with dogs and hanging out with his family. He is quiet and calm in the crate and is learning to kennel on command. Scout is currently potty training and has started his obedience training. He is treat motivated, making training easy and efficient.
He has been microchipped and brought up to date on vaccinations and deworming.

The K9 Demonstration this past Saturday was fun! We enjoyed talking to and meeting everyone. The crew is always fun to hang out with and we are so thankful they invited DFAM along!

Thank you to all that bought shirts or left donations in support of our dogs and our mission!

We are fans of the fluffys, so when Santa Ana’s K9 Wick, a male, Long Haired Dutch Shepherd, was in sight, we had to go say Hi! He was pleasantly social and we got to give him lots of love! (Pictured)

K9 detection demos were by the vendors and the main show performed to an over flowing full house. (We had to sit on the away team side because the main bleachers were full).

One of the Labs showed us that he would make a phenomenal Dressage pup with his shoulder-ins 😂.

The demos now are very different now that the schools all have turf and the vehicles can’t drive and helicopters cannot land on the field. Each group or department had a movie theme they did skits too with the K9’s ultimately getting the bad guy.
Not nearly as action packed as they use to be and they do A LOT more at the K9 Trials. Hopefully, as this gets back into the swing of things after COVID, they get more into demo’s showing what these dogs are used for which is far beyond a simple send to a decoy a few yards away.

Regardless, we had fun and it’s for a great cause! A few K9’s including Wick received their bulletproof vests which are so important for these dogs!

💕ZIDA💕 is a high drive, female, GSD. Crate, potty and obedience trained. Incredible hunt drive. High ball, food, prey drive. Would make an incredible detection dog. Will hunt for long periods. Loves water and can play fetch all day.

Zida is a sweet, affectionate and confident dog, social, great environmentally. Loves to be with her family. Good with kids and male dogs. Does not do well with female forward/dominant dogs. No cats. Neutral with horses.

Zida was adopted last year but is now available due to no fault of her own. Her owners circumstances have dramatically changed and we agree that this is what’s in Zida’s best interest.

Zida is best suited for a committed working home and is available through our Zero to Hero program. As with all working dogs, she requires mental and physical stimulation. She would be an amazing detection or search dog. Zida is highly intelligent and easy to train and handle.

Meet Grimm 🐾
8 mo old, MN, Belgian Malinois, fawn puppy.
All legs and ears at this age!

Extremely sweet and affectionate. Very social and eager to meet new friends. Great food drive and highly intelligent, making training easy. Drivey with good toy drive, strong grip. Grimm loves water, playing with toys and is very playful with other dogs, but can be forward. He is fostered with cats and horses. He is not sure what to think of the cats and will sometimes bark at them, so with cats he is still learning to be respectful and know his boundaries.
With the horses, he does very well at staying out of their way.

Malinois have energy and require mental stimulation to settle. Grimm is best suited for an active family. We do require adopters to continue training which will help prepare the adopters to clearly communicate and simulate “work” for Grimm to provide that mental stimulation and build a lasting, respectful relationship with their dog.

Grimm has been started on basic obedience, is crate trained and has been super with potty training.

We have been preparing Grimm for his new home, through training, socialization and improving his weight from the stress he underwent being at the shelter. He is ready for his forever home.

We are a 501c3 nonprofit rescue — 100% volunteer-based, 100% foster-based. Like most rescues, we are FULL. And sadly, the California shelter crisis continues to worsen:
