Big Fry (Raider) and Small Fry (Indy) 🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟

Malinois typically are a light, compact breed ranging from 40-60lbs with females typically on the lower half of that range. However, over the past several years, we are starting to see a lot of variance in size outside of the breed standard.

For work, they should be agile, athletic, able to work all day and able to be carried by their handler when necessary.

Sweet Indy is a sable, female, Belgian Malinois, spayed and is 45-50 lbs. She is an amazing house dog! Loves playing with others dogs, potty trained, can be trusted alone out of a crate. Good around cats, horses and dogs of all sizes. She is not a pushover in the pack but loves to play with and the company of other dogs. Indy likes toys and is very respectful and well mannered . She has started her obedience and is doing very well. Indy is being socialized in public places to increase her confidence in new places.

❤️ Indy ❤️

Meet Indy, a young, beautiful, 45-50 lb, female spayed, sable mahogany, Belgian Malinois, who is available for adoption. She was rescued almost two weeks ago, after spending over 100 days in East Valley Animal Shelter.

Indy is one of those 🦄 unicorn Mals. Low drive, gets along with dogs of all sizes, both males and females. Actually, she ABSOLUTELY LOVES playtime outside with the dogs. She loves her people, is calm and a pretty perfect house dog. Indy has been great with the cats, horses and was surprisingly not very scared or stressed with all the fireworks over the holiday weekend.

In her past life, we are pretty sure she just wasn’t exposed to much, which makes her a little shy at first in new places. Indy is potty trained, has started obedience with her foster and will be going with her foster to I Heart K9 for group training as soon as funds can be raised.
Indy has also started her crate training, although she has proven to be very trustworthy around the house thus far. It’s still always a good behavior for a dog to know and be comfortable and confident with.

Slowly, we have started working on socializing and positive experiences to gain more confidence. We like dogs coming out of our rescue to be ready to be part of a family that wants to include them on their outings and trips. Public places offer a large array of exposures. Today is Indy’s first day at a public place with this much going on. Sitting off to the side where she can have room on the leash to advance to people that approach and ask to pet her or retreat behind the tables and chairs. There are lots of people, dogs, strollers, loud cars and an abundance of noise and motions in general. She loves people and gets rewarded with love. As she settles and relaxes, she also receives treats. This is something we built up to. Within 10 minutes, she was relaxed enough to take a nap.

Indy is a true gem. We are truly excited to be part of Indy’s journey and excited to share how she blossoms in her time with us.

First thing after leaving the shelter - BATH!! Gotta get rid of the shelter ick.

Second - DeShed…very important for a house dog.

Third - PLAYTIME while waiting for foster mommy Megan….with intent. We might be playing, but we are also evaluating and building.

formerly Lady A2261090 from East Valley Animal Shelter, FS, Belgian Malinois came into the shelter as a stray 3/18/26. 109 days at the shelter, but is now safe with DFAM.

109 days in a shelter is hard on a dog both mentally and physically. It is not only new and different, but loud, stressful and very scary. Mals do not thrive in this type of environment. Some become extremely anxious, panic and can be reactive. The loud constant barking stressed Indy and being isolated to a kennel most of the time caused her to withdraw and shut down. Thank god for the volunteers at East Valley that took her out to play groups and provided affection whenever they could.

Indy is now in a home with a loving foster. She is affectionate and settling in. We will be allowing her to decompress and get use to her new surroundings.

As with all of our of the fosters that come into DFAM, Indy will be trained in obedience, crate and potty trained to provide a wonderful foundation to make the adoption transition as smooth as possible. We spend a great deal of time socializing and desensitizing in public places to build confidence, experience and exposure to build a well rounded disposition. This continuous training is an expense we must raise enough funding for.

Formerly Gemma at East Valley Shelter LAAS is now SAFE with DFAM.

Now we need your HELP sharing and raising DONATIONS to get her all fixed up, trained and ready to start living her absolute best life!!

Mercy’s ears are plain and simply in BAD SHAPE. About 1/4 of the right ear has literally been eaten away by flys, with flaps of dead skin hanging, that will need to be surgically removed. The left ear has bad scaring and a tear from the same. Edges are rigid and torn. Due to how vascular the ears are it is important this is done to prevent accidental tearing.

Mercy is a doll. Enough drive to make training fun and exciting. Confidence and personality to boot. LOVES people and affection. Good ball drive, so we will see what that looks like once settled in.

In December 2023, Sam Elliot was left behind at a vet hospital — painfully thin, hip bones showing, teeth worn down to nubs, and suffering from a severely embedded collar. He was sent to Carson Animal Shelter, where for over 90 days people walked past him without a second glance.

But shelter volunteers never gave up on him. And in March 2024, one reel who caught the eye of DFAM’s Megan, changed everything.

DFAM jumped into action, and Elliott’s life finally began. Through our Zero to Hero program, Elliott trained alongside DFAM Co-Founder Dana and they became a certified explosives and fi****ms detection dog team through Civilian Detection Course.

DFAM supporter , who is breaking barriers with her company Sixth Scent K9, welcomed Dana & K9 Elliott to her Sixth Scent K9 team, where they now help keep guests at SeaWorld San Diego safe.

How fitting that a rescue dog, now a working K9, is part of the team protecting guests at SeaWorld — one of the world’s largest marine mammal rescue organizations, with more than 42,000 animals rescued. 🐾

The dog no one wanted became the hero everyone now loved.

Mom (cattle dog mix), 3 black male Mal mix pups, brindle female Mal mix pup and 1 yr old black female spayed Mal mix sister (previous litter) ALL are in Need of a place to go. RESCUE, ADOPTERS, SPAY/NEUTER SPONSORS.

There were 6 pups but 2 have already been hit and killed by cars. So this is URGENT. These dogs live on the streets in Perris, Ca. Thanks to Rover, pups and sister have been vaccinated and sister has been spayed.

They are social, sweet, fine with the cats and are eager to be part of a family. Safe and loved in a home.

12 Dogs Need to be Removed from Current Situation Immediately!

1) MOST URGENT -
MOM (Dutch Shepherd) and 10 puppies need a dedicated foster, preferably in the Inland Empire or Riverside County NOW. We provide what you need.

2) A FOSTER for Dad (Belgian Malinois). Will be surrounded to the shelter if we cannot find immediate placement.

3) Once pups are weaned, they will need to be fostered separate from mom individually or groups of 2 / 3 until adopted.

Otherwise if we cannot create a soft landing for mom, dad and pups, they are going to the shelter where they will be exposed to too many contagious diseases. Pups with zero immune system should be safe and warm, learning, socializing and being loved.
We all know how the story goes….pups get adopted at first then the last few, mom and dad are facing euthanasia because a family of 12 will almost never make it out of a shelter alive. They just aren’t given the necessary time. 😭

Mom and dad will need good nutrition, all vaccines, deworming, flea/tick prevention, microchips and each to be spayed/neutered. They will need collars, leashes, training collars and Training at $25-$50/wk each. Plus maintenance care items.

The litter of pups is everything x10. They’ll need 30-50 vaccines IF they get adopted at 12 wks or younger. They will need 10 microchips, 40 dewormings, toys and MORE. Keep this in mind, as this family will need a lot in donations.

has raised MANY litters, SAVED MANY moms with babies AND mom/dad/pups families. We are GOOD at it because we understand this breed, know what pups need in this critical stage and know how to screen and educate adopters, requiring needs like training in our contracts.

Ideally mom and dad can be fostered together after pups are weaned and mom/dad are spayed/neutered or at least adopted together. They are bonded and live together. However, the reality is finding fosters/adopters and enough in donations to sustain everyone is extremely hard anymore. Our priority is to SAVE this family NOW and give them a chance at living their absolute best life.

‼️UPDATE‼️

Maverick has had his surgery and is beginning his long road of recovery! We are so thankful for everyone who donated to get us this far, and and of course .lair.

We look forward to Maverick being released from the hospital and returning home with Madi. Once home, we can work on vastly improving his health and weight, monitor the healing of his surgery, keep him warm and comfortable while giving him all the love he needs!

In the coming weeks, he will need check up X-rays 4,8 and 12 weeks after surgery to monitor healing and the implanted hardware. Additionally, laser therapy to improve healing of the skin tissues, muscles and reduce inflammation, along with physical therapy. Maverick will also continue on a high protein, high fat, quality diet and salmon oil to improve his weight and health.

The hardest part of this journey will be trying to keep a young Dutch Shepherd quiet, still and confined for such a long period. Madi will have her hands full once the pain reduces. 😂❤️
