The one question to ask yourself when a dog shows a certain behavior, "Why?" You can certainly find a bandaid fix to stop the problem, but the real fix is the find out the WHY.
Example-pup is stealing from counters, chewing, and digging. Why? Because your dog is intelligent and is bored with the current toys. First, rotate the toys. Gather up every bone, chew, toy, and ball, and make piles of 4 toys. Each pile of 4 toys equals a day. So, lets say you have 16 toys. Monday, that first group of toys comes out, giving your pup only one at a time, picking it up when he's done, then giving a different one when he's restless. At the end of the day, pick up all those toys, then Tuesday toys come out. By day 4, wash all the soft toys from day 1,2, and 3, soak all hard toys in bone broth and put them in the freezer on tin foil or parchment. By day 5, day 1 toys come out, but now they smell new, and your pup will be excited about them again. I also recommend mentally stimulating toys, such as puzzle toys, the Kong Wobbler, snuffle mat, herding ball, and bone marrow bones from the supermarket(raw). Add these to the rotation. I also love Redbarn.com, which has an amazing selection of long lasting, natural chews, all under $10!!!!!
This fixes the root of the problem. "Why" is such an important question that helps you better understand your dog, and your dog will be so happy you understood him!
