Sniffing. dogs sniff to relax themselves, and it is also exhausting. A dog will be more tired taking a walk and being allowed to sniff the whole time, then a hard game of fetch. Don't believe me? Try taking your dog onto a trail and let them sniff. See how tired your pup will be afterwards! So, a walk doesn't have to be about just walking. Allow this to be your dog's time to sniff and explore, and your dog will be so satisfied!

The one question to ask yourself when a dog shows a certain behavior, "Why?" You can certainly find a bandaid fix to stop the problem, but the real fix is the find out the WHY.
Example-pup is stealing from counters, chewing, and digging. Why? Because your dog is intelligent and is bored with the current toys. First, rotate the toys. Gather up every bone, chew, toy, and ball, and make piles of 4 toys. Each pile of 4 toys equals a day. So, lets say you have 16 toys. Monday, that first group of toys comes out, giving your pup only one at a time, picking it up when he's done, then giving a different one when he's restless. At the end of the day, pick up all those toys, then Tuesday toys come out. By day 4, wash all the soft toys from day 1,2, and 3, soak all hard toys in bone broth and put them in the freezer on tin foil or parchment. By day 5, day 1 toys come out, but now they smell new, and your pup will be excited about them again. I also recommend mentally stimulating toys, such as puzzle toys, the Kong Wobbler, snuffle mat, herding ball, and bone marrow bones from the supermarket(raw). Add these to the rotation. I also love Redbarn.com, which has an amazing selection of long lasting, natural chews, all under $10!!!!!
This fixes the root of the problem. "Why" is such an important question that helps you better understand your dog, and your dog will be so happy you understood him!

Dog training. Somehow it's changed over the years, making people feel they need to be the "alpha" or be "dominant". Wolves have an organized pack, dogs have no order to the pack, they are just a pack of friends hanging out. Yes, a dog will correct another dog's bad behavior, as humans do, but that can come from any dog.
What happened to "Man's Best Friend?" Dogs are so loyal to us and love us, unconditionally, and want to be our friend. Training to them is a fun mental challenge, where their owner is playing with them and teaching them something new. It really isn't about your dog having to be obedient, but seeing what trick/skill you can get your dog to and having fun in the process. Letting go of all expectations prevents frustration for you and your dog. /if a dog keep failing a skill, take it back to a more simple step, or change up the technique. I had a dog in class who was afraid to jump over a bar. We tried luring her, happily calling her to come, but she wasn't having it. So, after a bit of brain storming, I got her favorite dog in class to go with her. As she saw her friend jump, she jumped with her, and the whole class cheered, and her confidence boosted!
By having fun with the training process, your dog ENJOYS training. When a dog enjoys training, that makes the training skills lifelong and a strong friendship together!

CRATE TRAINING YOUR PUPPY
The idea is for your puppy to see the create as a place they love, so it should never be used as punishment. First, I suggest putting the water bowl and food bowl at the back of the crate for the day, door open, so your puppy must go all the way in every time your puppy wants a drink or to eat. Also, any good bones, chews, or frozen Kongs, should be given in the crate, with the door closed. This makes the crate have all your puppies resources and your puppy will love going in the crate! If your puppy looks tired, place a soft bed in the crate, removing the water, and put your puppy in the crate with a favorite lovey. Crate time should be enjoyable for your puppy, and when that happens, getting your puppy to go in will be so much easier!

I am now offering Biofield Tuning for dogs and cats! Biofield tuning uses hertz and vibration that, when struck on a puck, help fearful and aggressive cats and dogs calm down. I have seen many cats and dogs instantly calm down as soon as I start, and not only at that moment, but they feel less stress and are calmer after the session. We all have a electromagnetic field around us, which often can get out of whack from stressful moments in life, and even vaccines.
My friend, Leslie Benway has a very fearful dog who has shown much improvement from the tuning fork sessions!
The hertz in the forks balances that energy field and gets the people, dogs and cats to a better place.
