On All Hallows' Eve, while children were out creating mischief and anxiously awaiting Halloween to get dressed up for trick-or-treating, a sweet, heavily pregnant mama dog was sitting in a crowded local shelter.
When staff arrived that morning and checked on her, they found she had already given birth to five sweet babies. She continued to labor for the next six hours, ultimately bringing 12 of the most beautiful puppies—8 girls and 4 boys—into the world.
We immediately sprung into action, setting up a safe, warm whelping box, and we got this precious family out of the shelter the moment we knew she was done.
Sadly, rescue work comes with both immense joy and deep heartbreak. The little runt of the litter was born with a dangerously low body temperature. Even though his amazing mama cared for him deeply, and his foster made sure he was eating, nestled warm between his siblings, and resting on a heating pad, he quietly left us during the night. Our hearts ache for the one we lost, but we are holding onto hope that the rest of his brothers and sisters will continue to grow strong and thrive.
So, through the tears and the triumphs, let us welcome the Halloween Litter:

Girls: Mischief, Riot, Hex, Banshee, Mayhem, Vandal, Spooky
Boys: Bandit, Havoc, Chaos
Caring for a nursing mama and 11 growing puppies is an enormous undertaking. Over the next months, this family will require:
• Massive amounts of high-quality puppy food and supplements for Mama
• Rounds of critical vaccinations and dewormers for 11 puppies
• Spay/neuter surgeries for the entire family when they are old enough
• Microchips, medical checkups, and endless puppy pads
