I definitely believe the progression of training is very important. Better circles, softer stops, and willingly guiding. A big contribution to that is building connection and rapport with the horse. I know for myself I tried harder in class for the teachers I felt I had a friendship with. Not only that, it’s a good time to build confidence in c**ts. Preparing them to go to work outside with less of a shell shock to the big world. I have seen such a turn around doing this that it has become a key tool in my program. Mondays are set a side for an easy going day to start the week off on a good note. We spend it with some desensitization, picking up feet, grooming, and softening to different pressures. Making sure to engage the horses mind more than his feet.

Dolly lending a helping hand starting the newcomers. We love starting horses from the back of another because it already exposes them to you being above them! We sure have loved having this mare in our program. She’s sure an honest worker.
