We are short handed today and all the animals in Tippah county need us it seems! We are dedicated to getting everyone taken care of as quickly and effectively as possible! Thank you all so much for always giving us kindness and grace! It can be a circus here some days!!

Here’s a photo of our clinic baby, Max, when his mom took his pet hedgehog for show and tell last week… (Sometimes it’s great having a vet for a mom, even if it usually means she’s late to tball games and has bottle kittens in her purse!)

Cato is a very good boy.

Dogs possess an extraordinary sense of smell, with up to 300 million olfactory receptors compared to a human's 5 million. This allows them to detect minute concentrations (parts per trillion) of specific VOCs released by cancer cells that humans cannot perceive.

Canine cancer detection remains a subject of research and is not a standard clinical diagnostic tool. However, studies are promising, reporting high accuracy rates in controlled, double-blind trials. For example, one study found dogs could detect lung cancer in blood samples with 96.7% accuracy and healthy controls with 97.5% accuracy. Other studies have shown 91% sensitivity for prostate cancer from urine and 97% sensitivity for colorectal cancer from stool samples.

Dogs are amazing creatures. They serve mankind in so many wonderful ways.

The staff has cleared a spot in the parking lot to await our tiny little boarders! They are waiting on a couple of snakes and a tortoise to come in today… please dont let these guys get cold and in danger, let us help!

Also, if your pet needs medication refills, please let us know by calling the nurse line and we’ll make arrangements. We plan to open back up as soon as Dr Smith can skate here from Marshall county!

ATTENTION TIPPAH AND SURROUNDING AREAS:

In this bitter cold and no utility situation, your reptiles and small pocket pets are in grave danger without heat. The clinic is on a backup generator and for now, some of our techs are able to get there to care for our own pets. If you don’t have a way to heat your small pets (NOT dogs and cats at this point) we are willing to board them for free until your power is restored! You must bring their habitat and food, and preferably written care instructions. Please call our nurse line at 662-576-1119 to coordinate drop off/pickup. Our address is 9950 Hwy 15 S, Ripley MS.

We are so worried about everyone and know we will get through this together! Please take care of yourselves!!!

ETA: FOUND SAFE!! Emmylou has been found and will be reunited with her dad within the hour! Thank you to all those who helped search for her. The clinic staff went over near her home today to look for her again while her mom is hospitalized …and she ran out of the woods, wet and cold and over her little temper tantrum! She’s had her meds and a snack, and she won’t be left home alone again! We say it a lot because it’s true…the ACTC staff is the very, very best. ♥️🐾

MISSING FROM THE PALMER AREA OF RIPLEY, MS!

Emmylou is missing! She’s not wearing her collar. REWARD for her safe return!!! SHE IS SEVERELY EPILEPTIC AND NEEDS MULTIPLE DAILY MEDICATIONS!

Please call 662-551-6465 with any information!
