Zia team had quite the sticky situations walk through the doors this morning!

This poor kitten was found stuck to a glue trap by a good Samaritan. After some quick but delicate work, our team was able to free this baby and get her cleaned up.

While glue traps may seem a convenient and mess less way to deal with pests like rodents and insects they are not discriminant in what they catch. Lizards, birds and other small mammals (like wandering kittens!) can find themselves stuck in the sticky residue. This baby was fortunate to have someone find her quickly before she became malnourished, dehydrated or even perished which is unfortunately the fate of many that become trapped.

We look forward to seeing her grow up in the coming weeks and hope she'll keep herself out of any more trouble!

Some houseplants can be toxic to cats, even just a nibble can lead to serious health issues.

Popular plants like lilies, pothos, and philodendrons can cause vomiting, lethargy, and even organ failure. Keep your curious cat safe by researching pet-safe plants and keeping harmful ones out of reach.

Cats meow just for us, it's their special way of communicating with humans!

But if your cat is meowing more than usual, it could be a sign that something’s wrong. Always check with your vet to rule out any health concerns.

A wagging tail isn’t always a sign of happiness. Dogs use their tails to express many different emotions. The speed, position, and direction of the wag can indicate excitement, curiosity, nervousness, or stress.

Understanding your dog’s full body language, including their tail, ears, eyes, and posture, helps you recognize how they’re really feeling. This builds trust, strengthens your bond, and helps you care for them even better! 🐾💛

Our History

Zia Pet Hospital is locally owned and operated small animal & exotic general practice veterinary hospital. Dr. Veronica Bingamon and her skilled pet nurses (veterinary technicians) created a veterinary hospital that provides diagnostic medicine to tailor each pet’s medical needs. We strive to provide the best care for your pet family member and treat them as our own pet. Our goal is to communicate and educate pet parents about preventative wellness care to maximize the longevity and comfort of your pet with all life stages. We also provide medical and surgical care when needed on all furred, feathered and scaled pets. Zia Pet Hospital is where family pets find loving care! Thank you for supporting local businesses in Rio Rancho and NM!
