New Class Offering - Therapy Dog Prep Class

Starts September 17, 2026

This class will teach you and your dog the basics of therapy dog (TD) work and help prepare you to become the best TD team you can be! You will learn TD basics, etiquette, advanced skills and how to bring comfort on all types of visits. You will also learn how to prepare for different types of therapy dog testing administered by national and local Therapy Dog organizations. The class will help you determine if your dog is a good candidate for therapy dog work and how to train, practice, test and get approved to become a TD team.

Start your puppy off on the right paw. This class is for owners and puppies 3 to 6 months old. This is an AKC STAR puppy award, which is the foundation for their Canine Good Citizen title program. STAR represents Socialization, Training, Activity, Responsible owner - all of the things a puppy needs to become a happy member of the family! 6 week course. Talbot Kennel Club will be offering a 2-day Scent Work trial on October 24 - 25, 2026 at Pinewood Kennels in Sudlersville, MD.

Judges are Terri Eyer (Milford, DE) and Jennieanne Mitchell (Parsonsburg, MD).

Trial includes Novice, Advanced, Excellent & Master classes along with Container, Interior, Exterior and Buried (see premium for specific details of which elements are offered on specific dates).

Random Draw - September 15, 2026
