🚨PSA🐾

Ridgefield Animal Control has ZERO TOLERANCE for dogs left in hot cars.

Summer is here! Please leave your pet home in a cool place, and NOT in your car. The temperature inside a parked car can skyrocket within minutes— putting your pets life in serious danger.

🐾 Cracked windows do not help

🐾 Heatstroke can happen within minutes

🐾 Leave them at home

If you see a dog in distress; call the Ridgefield Police Department 203-438-6531, or the Ridgefield ACO 203-431-2711. Thank you.

Sammy is taking applications for adoption!

Looking for a loyal companion who’s already mastered the fine art of being the ā€œbestest girlā€!
Meet Sammy! A sweet older pup with a tail that still wags like a puppy.

Sammy may have a bit of gray around her muzzle, but she’s still got plenty of love to give! She would best fit in a home where she is the only dog.

Applications will be available for pickup at the Ridgefield Police Department starting this Friday.

Thank you for helping find Sammy her ā€œforeverā€ home.

It’s common to spot a fawn alone in the grass or woods during spring. It’s not abandoned. Mother deer leave their babies hidden to avoid attracting predators, returning only a few times a day to nurse. Please do not touch, move, feed, or bring them to a wildlife rehabilitator without speaking with us. Thank you.

🚨We’d like to remind all Ridgefield residents of the importance of keeping your dogs safely contained on your property. Whether through secure fencing, leashing, or supervised outdoor time, proper containment helps ensure the safety of your dog, your neighbors, and local wildlife.

Uncontained dogs can unintentionally cause traffic hazards, conflicts with other animals, or disturbances in the community.

Ridgefield Animal Control has seen an increase in reports of dogs roaming, and we kindly ask for your cooperation in helping keep our town safe for everyone.

Thank you for being a responsible pet owner and a good neighbor! 🐾

The Town of Ridgefield has a dog waste ordinance that makes it a finable offense for anyone in control of a dog to leave behind the dogs waste on public or town owned property.
This includes parks, sidewalks, streets, and school grounds.

Almost every school in Ridgefield has either hiking trails or open space land in close proximity, where you can walk your dog ON a leash, and clean up their waste there. Please don’t make our school staff have to clean up your dogs mess on school playgrounds.

Thank you.

Meet ā€œMoeā€!

Moe is a 6-7 year old Lhasa Apso that was picked up roaming a little while back. While it took some time for Moe to warm up to us, he seems like he’s ready for his ā€œFurever Homeā€.
We don’t know what Moe has been through in the past, but we hope that a loving family would consider giving him a comfortable place to call home very soon.

We recommend Moe goes to a family with older children that understand the process it takes to bring a newer dog into the home. Moe seems fine with other dogs both big and small.

If you have any interest in making Moe a part of your family, please reach out to us to schedule a meet!

Meet Brody!

Brody (or ā€œBroā€), is about 5 years old and has had a bit of a rough go at life recently. Brody was surrendered to us a while ago. We have been working with him everyday trying our best to get him ready for his new home.

Like most bulldogs, Brody will need special attention to his skin, snout, and eyes.

Brody will be available for adoption within the next week! Although Brody seems to be okay with children, he will ONLY be adopted out to adult only families. Brody gets startled easily and likes to find confined areas to ā€œhideā€ in.

Brody needs a family that will give him the time and and attention that he requires, while understanding that this commitment/project will NOT happen overnight.

Applications for adoptions are available at the front desk at the Ridgefield Police Department. He has a Veterinary appointment this week for his final checkup.
