🐾 We fostered Reeces to give her the love and stability she needed — and then the Milo Foundation took her away with no warning.
This is our story. We’re heartbroken, and we’re speaking out so no other family — or animal — has to go through this.
On March 18th, we took in Reeces, a surrendered French Bulldog, after seeing a post that she needed a foster. Within minutes of meeting her, it was clear she belonged with us. She bonded instantly — snuggling with us each night, playing with our dogs, and beginning to feel safe.
We followed every instruction given to us. We submitted our application, cared for her around the clock, and even took her to the shelter when she needed medical attention.
On March 23rd, my husband brought Reeces in for an eye issue. He was told by staff that we needed to adopt her that day. Excited, we said yes — and then, just 15 minutes later, we were blindsided.
Nicole Bonfiglio, the shelter director, abruptly changed the story. She said Reeces couldn’t be adopted until April 18th, claiming a new 30-day stray hold rule. When we respectfully asked for clarification, Nicole accused us of being too emotional and said she no longer felt Reeces was "safe with us." She removed Reeces from our care and refused to give her back — even though we had done nothing wrong.
My husband waited in the car outside the shelter for hours, hoping to speak with the founder, Lynne Tingle, who was supposed to arrive later that day. No one told him she had come and gone. She never returned our calls or texts. Nicole refused to take accountability and had already sent Reeces to their sanctuary — without any discussion, explanation, or compassion.
💔 This was an emotional whiplash. A power play. And not in the best interest of the dog.
We have:
A full timeline of events
Screenshots, texts, and emails
Documentation of the dog’s care and our attempts to communicate
We are devastated — for ourselves, and especially for Reeces.
