3 years ago today we said goodbye to Sam. 💚

I still carry the weight of all the things I would have done differently.

I would have said no to the extra vaccines the vet gave him as a puppy “just to be safe” that resulted in lifelong autoimmune problems.

Life dealt him a sh*tty hand. Had I known better, it could’ve been prevented.

That reality is hard to sit with, but I feel that to my core.

But it’s also the reason this “project” exists.

It was built from grief, guilt, love, education, and the desire to help other pet parents question more and advocate harder for the animals depending on them.

Sam’s life was cut short by cancer but his purpose will be everlasting. 💚

RIP to our old black & white labels.

The new labels are here! Cleaner, faster, and no longer requiring me to play print, cut, and package factory at 8pm.

Same single-ingredient treats.
Same species-appropriate goodness.
Just a much better system thanks to my overactive brain and an amazing local print shop.

Happy 3rd Birthday to Walter! He’s a clingy pit with two brain cells, one dedicated to Chuckit balls and the other dedicated to violating personal space.

This boy is thriving on fresh, lightly cooked food! We’ve spent the last couple years navigating acid reflux and learning what actually works for HIS body… because not every dog fits neatly into a bag of kibble.

He’s basically been raised on the “your vet probably hates this” starter pack. No monthly flea & tick pesticides. Only core puppy vaccines. Not neutered. And unless someone’s been sneaking them behind my back, no Milkbones either.

The Pet Wellness Project exists because of Sam, who we lost to cancer 3 years ago. Walter is just out here benefiting from all the things Sam taught us about nutrition, health, and questioning the “normal” pet care advice.

Happy Birthday, Walter! Your big brother left behind a legacy that’s helping you live your healthiest life! 💙💚
