Cat's Cradle rescues cats and kittens.

Cat’s Cradle of Greater Richmond is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all-volunteer organization committed to rescuing and adopting cats and kittens from euthanizing shelters and situations of neglect and abuse, regardless of pedigree, age, physical condition or aesthetic appeal. Over 10,000 unwanted pets are euthanized annually at Richmond area pounds – healthy, loving animals who are put to death simply b

ecause they have no home. With your help, Cat’s Cradle is changing the fate of many of these animals by going into the shelters, pulling cats and kittens off death row, getting them immediate veterinary care, securing attentive foster care, and finding them permanent homes where they can be safe forever. And remember, we champion the elderly, disabled, special needs, injured, and difficult to place kitties who need extra care and compassion

Meet Ellie – The Housecat the Feral World Couldn’t Keep

Ellie is a 1.5-year-old tabby girl with soulful eyes, a heart full of love, and the most darling splash of orange right on top of her head—like a kiss from the sun.

Born into a feral colony, Ellie was never quite like the others. While her littermates scattered at the sight of people, Ellie stepped forward, weaving figure eights around the legs of the volunteer who came to care for them. Each visit, she’d show up again—affectionate, hopeful, and clearly craving the life of an indoor companion. It was as if she’d always known she was meant to be someone’s cherished pet, just born into the wrong circumstance.

Now safely indoors, Ellie has blossomed. She’s gentle, curious, and full of quiet affection. Whether she’s gazing at you with those expressive eyes, curling up on a cozy blanket, or exploring her surroundings with grace and wonder, Ellie radiates a soft, serene presence.

Ellie would thrive in a calm home where she can continue to learn that she’s safe, loved, and finally home for good. She’s a reminder that sometimes, the sweetest souls are found in the most unexpected places—and they’re just waiting for someone to see them.

Meet Marmalade – The Sweetest Tortie Treat!

Marmalade is a stunning 1-year-old tortie who has traded in her street cat days for the comforts of indoor life — and she’s adapted beautifully! She’s not only gorgeous but also has the sweetest personality. Friendly with both people and other pets, Marmalade is always ready for love and cuddles.

This young mama is still learning how to play, but she’s quickly catching on thanks to her kittens. She adores lasers and tiny pompom balls, and she still gets the zoomies! But her true happiness? Lounging in front of a sunny window, gazing at the outdoors.

Marmalade would make the perfect addition to any family. She may be a little shy at first (like most cats), but once she warms up, she’ll happily coexist with kids or other pets.
