Are you looking for a friend for your rabbit? Let us help! This month and next, we're tripling the amount of speed dating appointments available at our facility. Typically these are only offered on Sundays, but in June and July, some will be on Tuesdays and Fridays. Everybunny deserves a little love! Learn more about our adoption process and sign up for an appointment at houserabbit.org/bonding-adoption.

Bonding is a lot of work, but it's so rewarding helping your rabbit find their fluffy best friend. Rabbits are very social animals and most enjoy having another rabbit as a friend, someone they can snuggle and play with. We would love to help you find the perfect match for your rabbit! Whether your rabbit is looking for an eligible bachelor or bachelorette, we have so many sweet rabbits who would love to meet them!

If you have lost a beloved rabbit, we invite you to join our monthly pet loss support group, hosted monthly on Zoom. These gatherings are open to anyone who has lost a rabbit companion (need not be an HRS rabbit). Learn more and sign up at houserabbit.org/classes.

The group is led by Krystal Koop, an associate clinical social worker who has been working in the field of social work for 20 years. She specializes in grief and end of life considerations, including pet loss and bereavement.

Whether you're seeking solace in sharing your rabbit's story or simply wish to listen and honor the memory of your cherished rabbit, the support group provides a safe and understanding space to navigate the complexities of grief. There's no right or wrong way to grieve, but finding support within a compassionate community can be an invaluable resource during a time of mourning. We invite you to join us and discover the healing power of connection as we come together to celebrate the lives of our beloved rabbit companions.

This service is provided free of charge for our community; however, we welcome donations to help provide lifesaving services for the rabbits here at our facility and to support our educational and medical programs. Give today at houserabbit.org.

Nutkin is our most handsome eligible bachelor. Coming to HRS from the Monterey Animal Shelter, this rabbit is serving looks and love. Nutkin enjoys leisurely days filled with ear massages, forehead pets and all out attention from people. If you enjoy a sweet and outgoing rabbit, he is the furry family member for you!

Nutkin is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHDV2 (vaccine needs to be administered annually). House Rabbit Society recommends all rabbits see a rabbit-savvy veterinarian once a year.

Submit an adoption application for Nutkin at houserabbit.org. House Rabbit Society is located in Richmond, California, just north of San Francisco. Questions? Email [email protected] and we’ll be happy to talk more with you!

In April, one of our adopters reached out to us, in need of temporary boarding for their rabbits Kyle & Chili Mango, as they were losing their housing and unsure of where they would be for the next several weeks. We were happy to step in to help.

Our Crisis Companions program was created for situations like these. In 2023, a local homeless shelter reached out seeking assistance with a family fleeing a domestic violence situation, as the family had a rabbit and the shelter did not allow pets. After searching for resources to point the family towards, we discovered there weren’t many support options to help rabbit guardians in these circumstances.

In response, we started the Crisis Companions program, which offers families the option to temporarily surrender their rabbit to HRS until they’re in a safe and stable situation and their rabbit can be reunited back with them. HRS will provide all necessary medical and housing care at no cost.

So far, the Crisis Companions program has assisted four families families. Programs like this are only possible because of the generosity of donors like you. Your support allows us to help when rabbits like Kyle & Chili Mango need our help and a safe place to land.

(Berkeley, California) This is a courtesy post for rabbits looking for a new home through a private individual. The rabbits are not available through House Rabbit Society.

This sweet, bonded trio is looking for a loving new home. Learn more about them below!

---

We are looking to rehome our sweet, healthy, and fully bonded trio of rabbits due to a recent downsized living situation. They must be adopted together, as they are a tightly knit group. They are quiet, well-behaved, 3-year-old rabbits who contentedly keep to themselves.

Lucky: Neutered male, 3 years old.

Zappa: Spayed female, 3 years old.

Pinky: Spayed female, 3 years old.

Health Status: Excellent. Fully vaccinated (RHDV2) and fixed. No medical issues.

Temperament: Quiet, independent, and peaceful.

Favorite Activities: They love chew toys and keeping themselves entertained.

Diet/Setup: Fully litter-box trained. Accustomed to high-quality hay, pellets, and daily fresh greens.

We love them dearly and want to ensure they go to a home that understands rabbit care and has the space to let them thrive together.

We have the sweetest update to share about Trufflesnout (spotted rabbit), who was adopted from HRS earlier this year. Their adopter shares, "Just wanted to let you know that all is well with Trufflesnout. She is as playful and friendly as ever. She still loves her favorite spots under the desk/coffee table or on the couch. Only difference is that she now has a partner to share it all with - we successfully bonded Trufflesnout with our bunny Grisham in the last month! She’s so sweet and takes such good care of him (she’s a big groomer)!"

Are you looking for a friend for your rabbit? Let us help! This month and next, we’re tripling the amount of speed dating appointments available at our facility. Learn more about our adoption processing when you're adopting a friend for your rabbit and sign up for a speed dating appointment at houserabbit.org/bonding-adoption! We can't wait to help you find the perfect match. 💘

Preciosa is a gorgeous, sporty girl who came to HRS from San Jose Animal Care and Control. She is a spunky, playful rabbit who loves hopping on beds, chairs, and any cozy perch where she can gaze out the window. She is a busy bunny with places to go and things to explore. Hand her a toy and she will proudly toss it to show off her impressive "bunny pitch." She is perfectly happy to share her space with a respectful cat friend. This curious, confident girl is ready to make friends and be part of you team!

Here is what Preciosa's foster family says about her: "She has a lot of energy. She always looks for ways to escape the pen and gate. She is very smart, very adorable. Since she has a lot of energy and she always tries to explore new areas, she always wants to find ways to escape. She likes to eat green vegetables. Not much interested about fruits. She likes to throw the hay and pellets out of her litter box. She is more energetic in the evening. When we watch TV which is just next to her pen, she will also sit and watch. She likes to lie down next to our daughters when they sit on the floor spending time with her.Our kids like to feed her and sometimes they put the food on their hand and she eats from it and it is very cuttee!!!!"

Preciosa is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHDV2 (vaccine needs to be administered annually). House Rabbit Society recommends all rabbits see a rabbit-savvy veterinarian once a year.

Education is one of the most powerful tools we have to change the lives of rabbits, and it's at the heart of everything we do at House Rabbit Society. That's why we offer a growing lineup of online and-in person classes designed to help people become better equipped to care for their rabbits.

Whether you're new to rabbits or have decades of experience, there's something for everyone. These weekly, monthly, and quarterly classes are open to all (not just HRS adopters). Register today to attend Zoom classes on:

- Rabbit care 101, which covers the basics of taking care of a house rabbit
- Introducing rabbits, a starter guide for bonding rabbits
- Rabbit behavior, to learn how to strengthen the human-rabbit bond
- Pet loss support, a safe, supportive group led by a certified therapist

Browse our class schedule and sign up for one today at houserabbit.org/classes! Our classes on senior rabbits, cats & rabbits, and introduction to rabbit grooming (fees required) are offered on a quarterly basis; stay tuned for announcements about when they will be available again.

Please also share this post and information with anyone you know who could benefit from one of these classes. The more people we reach, the more rabbit lives we can change! 💖🐰

As you're making your giving plans for the rest of the year, we invite you to join the HRS Bunny Brigade, a special group of donors who have made a monthly or quarterly giving commitment to help make the world a better place for rabbits. Recurring giving provides steady, reliable funding for our most critical work, and monthly or quarterly gifts are among the easiest and most impactful ways to support HRS and our mission. Join now: houserabbit.org/recurring

As a special thank-you for joining the Bunny Brigade, you'll receive an exclusive Bunny Brigade sticker and our new enamel pin, created to celebrate the impact of recurring support. Designed by our executive director, Amber Tadena, the pin features a rabbit healing after receiving much-needed medical care at HRS, representing our mission of helping rabbits who need us the most.

Already a Bunny Brigade member? By increasing your monthly or quarterly gift, you're also eligible to receive the enamel pin. Email [email protected] for more information.

Every dollar has an impact! No matter the amount or frequency, your recurring gift helps sustain our rescue, medical, and education programs that make a difference for rabbits around the world.

Charmander has a warm heart and a sunny demeanor. His most recent foster had so many great things to say about him the most important being: "If there’s one thing I want you to remember about Charmander, it’s that he's my very first foster rabbit and giving him up is so hard because he's truly perfect. He's gentle, loves pets, and is just the sweetest, chillest bunny. Someone is about to get a dream companion!"

Though he isn't the biggest fan of most toys, Charmander likes interactive puzzles, snuffle mats, foraging, and most of all, running through and jumping on cardboard boxes. He loves to sit in his litter box in a loaf, ears back, enjoying his hay. He rearranges his box to have it in his corner (that is conveniently in front of the closest that houses his pellets and treats...). He loves to try to run into that closet as well. He lays head down butt up for pets. He especially loves pets on his head. He loves herbs and will climb up your lap to eat them and continuously check to see if you have more.

Charmander is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHDV2 (vaccine needs to be administered annually). House Rabbit Society recommends all rabbits see a rabbit-savvy veterinarian once a year.

Submit an adoption application for Charmander at houserabbit.org. House Rabbit Society is located in Richmond, California, just north of San Francisco. Questions? Email [email protected] and we’ll be happy to talk more with you!
