Winter weather is headed our way! Here are some good tips from the University of Minnesota for keeping your cattle safe during winter weather:

Be sure to provide:
-A wind break- this is the most important thing for cattle during severe winter weather. Providing bedding behind the windbreak allows cattle to rest and lay down out of the wind.
-Access to fresh, clean water- cattle will struggle to maintain their body temperature when they are not properly hydrated.
-Feed quality hay- the fermentation process inside of their GI tract produces heat and acts as an "internal furnace" to keep them warm.
-Body condition- properly conditioned cattle fare much better in colder weather.
