It’s already time for the first arugula harvest!

This round of arugula was sown three weeks ago and is the first of many that we will see throughout the cooler months. Since there was a limited amount available this week, priority went to our Veggie Share members (a major perk!). We’ll let you know as soon as it is available at the Farm Stand! 😉

The arugula that we direct-sowed in the tunnels a couple of weeks ago is coming along nicely!

Did you know that arugula is one of our fast growing crops? It takes just under a month for it to reach baby size which is when we often harvest it. That’s about as fast as you can get on the farm! 😋

It’s already time to transplant the first fall crops in the field!

This round includes leafy greens that are able to tolerate the warmer temperatures as we transition from late summer into fall. You can expect to see the first harvest for some of these by the beginning of October!

Here’s what we planted: Swiss chard, collard greens, komatsuna, tatsoi, Tokyo bekana, and pac choi.

We started the first round of fall seeds in the greenhouse at the end of last week and this week, we’re working on renovating some beds in one of the tunnels so we can sow the first round of radishes and arugula. We hope you’re as excited as we are for the first taste of fall produce! 😄

Have you had a chance to try any of our roselle greens at the Farm Stand? Roselle leaves have a tart, lemony flavor that contrasts with all of our summer crops. 😋

This year, we are growing two different varieties: Thai (right) and North Florida (left). Roselle leaves can be enjoyed raw in salads or pestos or added to soups and stir-fries. Make sure to snag a bunch to try at the Farm Stand on Saturday or add them to your Veggie Share!
