One question we hear often is whether volunteer Boarders are expected to cover the costs of caring for a military pet.
While DoD Boarders generously volunteer their time and open their homes to military pets, Pet Owners remain financially responsible for their pets throughout the entire boarding period. This includes food, medication, supplies, grooming, and veterinary care.
Before boarding begins, Pet Owners and Boarders complete a Boarding & Care Plan to discuss the pet’s routine and detailed care needs. Pet Owners provide needed supplies at drop-off or arrange for them to be restocked through auto shipments during the pet’s stay. We also recommend Pet Owners have a credit card on file with their veterinarian.
