Greed has no place in horse training.

The fastest way to hold a horse back is to ask for more than it's ready to give. Every horse learns at a different pace, and the ones that last are built through patience, consistency, and doing right by the horse—not by rushing the process.

Don't let your goals get bigger than your horsemanship.

The best horsemen aren't greedy. They know when to ask for more, when to reward, and when to call it a day.

Put the horse first. The results will follow.

The $5,000 horse is almost always harder to sell than the $25,000 horse.

The $25,000 buyer asks a few relevant questions, comes to see the horse, decides if it’s the right fit, and either buys it or moves on.

The $5,000 buyer acts like they’re interviewing the horse for a Fortune 500 CEO position.

They want a finished, bombproof, kid-safe, husband-safe, trail horse, ranch horse, performance horse, that loads itself, shoes itself, and farts sparkles.

Then they ask, “Why are you selling him?” after it was literally explained in the ad.

Or, “Can he do this?” Also in the ad.

Or my personal favorite… “Can you send me more information?” Sure. You could also just read what I already spent 20 minutes writing.

A $5,000 horse is a $5,000 horse. If you want a $25,000 horse, buy a $25,000 horse.

Reading the ad is free. Expectations apparently are not.

Edit to add: If you can't see the humour in my writing than your missing the point! We understand not everyone has the same budget and some have had bad experiences in the past. There's always going to be exceptions to every circumstance. This post was ONLY a poke at humour of the questions and requests we get BEYOND the usual and these happen most commonly with the more affordable horses.
