Between last week and this week, our weather has shifted abruptly from about 15° below average to more than 15° above average. The forecast is now calling for highs of at least 80°F for the foreseeable future.

Ranunculus and anemones don’t love heat and typically go dormant once temperatures climb above 80°F, so this season’s blooms likely won’t last much longer. At least this week there are still flowers to enjoy — soft, delicate, fleeting spring beauty before summer takes over.

On watch for the very first blooms over the next two weeks.

There’s not a lot blooming in Minnesota in April—maybe bleeding heart and a couple tulips—but I just need that first sign.

I’m so ready to be back outside cutting flowers again… can it be spring yet? Hopefully this will be our last cold weekend 🙏🙏🙏
