Things seem to be going good. I think Björk is accepting the one now and the oxytocin seems to have worked . 🥰

So as some may know, last year Bjork rejected one of her lambs (my bottle baby lamb chop). Last night all seemed fine, she was calling to both of them, cleaning both and nursing both of them. I stayed up until almost 4 this morning in the barn with them just to make sure everything went okay. All was well, so I went to bed. When I woke up a couple hours later and looked at the camera for her stall I noticed she was pushing this little guy away. Not violently, but enough to make me go out there and monitor again. And yes, she was starting to reject him. Last year we tried a headgate and it was a horrible experience and not one I wanted to repeat. So I took to the forums and read that some people have had success with an Oxytocin nasal spray. Called the vet, got the prescription and crossed my fingers.

Well, about two hours later I haven’t seen her head butt him, push him away or seem to get any other nefarious thoughts popping into her thick head. He is nursing again and she is letting him and even looking back to sniff at him. I picked him up and took him out of the stall she started to call for him. Hopefully the oxytocin trick works for the long term, at least for now it seems to be.

Lambing season has begun!!!

A boy and a girl for Anja.

Björk is being decent towards them, hopefully when she has her lambs she does a better job of taking care of them this year. 🙄. Maybe she’ll learn from Anja.
