With a few of our Ball Python girls being gravid - and a couple are due soon - Caraxes, our awesome little Western Hognose boy, seems to want to join in on the excitement! Here he is showing off his side-laying yoga pose as if to say, "I have eggies, too! Maybe you should feed me more. 😉"

This plain photo, when looked at closely, paints a much bigger picture of excitement, anticipation, hard work, and much planning. This is a summary of all of our ball python pairings for this year (so far - we keep adding more).

Every time we introduce a new pair, every lock we witness, every ovulation we see, every pre-lay shed that happens, and (of course) every clutch that is laid brings Sara and I one step closer to our dreams. We adore these beautiful animals, and there is nothing else that we'd rather be doing than keeping and raising them to help bring our passion for these snakes to others.

Already we have this season's clutch #2! Oya did a great job pushing out those seven eggs, and they all have great veins. Two months from now is going to feel like Christmas. 😊

We're excited to introduce our newest pair of love bugs; meet Ava and Gula, who are already locked!

These two are kickstarting a project that we've really been looking forward to working. Both of these kiddos are double het Axanthic (TSK) and Desert Ghost, plus Gula is Pastel. We'll have a 1/16 chance on each hatchling for a double visual with the recessives, but Ava is a big girl, so we're hoping for a large clutch.

We can't wait to hatch out some beautiful babies and start working other genes into the mix!

It's about time, mama! Theixa is our first girl to go this year, and after having the eggs removed and being cleaned up, she looks ready for a meal. Theixa laid 5 big, beautiful eggs with some great veins, so now our 60-day watch begins.

We paired Thiexa, a Pastel het Pied, to Tenebrax, a het Pied. When we paired them we thought that Tenebrax was also het Axanthic, but that may not be the case (it's a whole story). But at least we can hope to get a gorgeous Pied or two when it comes to hatch time!

It is time for some maternity pics! Several of these gorgeous mamas-to-be have already ovulated - F***g is actually ovulating *today*! Some of these beauties will be first-time mamas, and some had clutches for us last year. We are over the moon with excitement and anticipation for their clutches; we have had the incubators ready for action for a couple weeks already.

We are really looking forward to seeing what hatchlings come out of their eggies this year. The projects that these ladies are involved in range from various Pieds to Dreamsicles to BELs and more.

We also have more girls from whom we are hoping to get clutches (including a very exciting project that we will begin working toward next week-ish. 😉). Though she is in blue, we want to show off our new breeder girl Dysis! We made a trip all the way to Nashville to pick up this sweet lady.

She is Het Sunset and the first female breeder that we have gotten that carries the gene. Dysis will be paired to Apollo, our young Fire Double Het Sunset / Clown, so fingers crossed that he soon figures out how breeding works! Otherwise we have backup plans for her this season.

We truly cannot wait to start hatching out some visual Sunset combos! 😁

We've had to make a pairing change due to a younger male not locking and the female building follicles. Atreides, our newest, has wasted no time in locking with Gaia! We're excited to start this multi-generational project. (The dirty bin, by the way, is perfectly fine for scent while breeding 😊)

It looks like we may have our first ovulation of the year! While not in a high-end genetic project, this would be Theixa's first clutch with us. Here's looking forward to a healthy clutch and many more ovulations to come!

Well, well. Aren't Genesis and F***g cute and cozy during their lock today? A clutch from these two is among our most anticipated of the season. We can't wait to see what this mama and papa have in store for us!
