Finally got around to snapping some fresh pictures of Marilyn with her adult proportions! This is her first year breeding, and I paired her with Balthazar in hopes of getting some more dark flames like he produced with Vixen. I love her weird pattern, but man does she freak out when I fire her up for pictures!

Something special has hatched out here and I’m finally ready to spill the beans!! I was quiet about the pairing at first because I know some folks find hybrids controversial, and I wasn’t even sure if I would get eggs. Then after I got eggs, I wasn’t sure if they would hatch! After months of waiting, we have our first baby hybrids from Volt (female cappuccino crested gecko from Olivia x Umbreon) and Gatsby (male non-locale specific chahoua gecko from BGSU lines). Since chahoua tend to form attachments to their mates, these two have been cohabiting successfully and I intend to keep them together as long as there are no signs of scuffling or competition for resources.

I can hardly wait to monitor the growth and development of these kids! Do you think either of them are showing the cappuccino gene? 🤔

I haven’t spent a lot of time on social media lately, sorry guys! Andraste is doing fanastic for her first breeding season here, and I always get her in the light box when I catch her fired up even though she pees on me every time.

This is truly my favorite part about breeding crested geckos— the changes they go through as they grow are just fascinating! I was incredibly happy with the results from this pairing and will likely repeat it, though I didn’t grow them out very much since phantom progression is pretty predictable. All these geckos minus my two holdbacks are all gone to new homes!

To my cappuccino people— what do you think of those flames? I’m reasonably certain that Vixen is not a cappuccino given her last pairing, but given the progression of those flames I’m starting to suspect Balthazar of having the gene, even though he fires down quite green.

Josephine has grown into a lovely adult! She is a stripe/patternless anery sand boa, and I plan to breed her for the first time next season with my snow male Whiteclaw to produce more of the same, as well as some snows and snow stripes if everything goes well!

Nothing beats a classic! There are lots of cool morphs for sand boas, but I’m a big fan of just the normal coloration as well. Some maintain the orange and brown contrast they have as neonates into adulthood— many like Paprika here develop much more brown though to better blend into their environment!

I’ll be the first to admit that there’s nothing super exciting about a red phantom hatchling… but I expect these kids to come into some nice colors once they start to grow for sure! The Red x Ned kids should carry some nice empty back potential too— all my fingers are crossed for a non phantom from the pair!

It’s been another busy month already for hatchlings, finally seeing the results of some of my pairings from earlier this season! These are the first hatchlings from Morathi x Zeus, and I think these kids will give me some very clear answers on Zeus’s Capp status due to how that gene should (in theory) react with a tricolor pinstripe like Morathi. Neither of these kids are showing obvious Capp markers (nor are any of their half siblings so far, although the jury is out on their progression), so I’m starting to feel confident that Zeus is just a neat cappuccino look alike without actually carrying that gene! Maybe an empty back Halloween? I’ll reserve judgement until some of these kids gain a bit of size!

Who else is working with dark flames? These three kiddos from Vixen x Balthazar will be on my table next weekend at the Ohio Reptile & More Expo but I won’t be listing them online and I won’t be letting all of them go! These are strictly open to people brave enough to make an offer on some of my favorite productions 😜

Updating Morphmarket is a lot of work, I didn’t even realize I didn’t already have some of these kids posted! The first one, Tilde, is the only holdback I could bring myself to put up to the general public online…
