About me and what I do
Welcome! My name is Angie Jensen and I have been training dogs for the last 29 years. I personally compete in performance events through the American Kennel Club and I show dogs through the American Kennel Club, United Kennel Club and International Kennel Club. The Events that I have competed in and trained in include: Obedience, Agility, Rally, Herding, Tracking, Canine Good Citizenship (all 3 levels), and dog Therapy work. And of course the conformation ring. I have owned and worked many dog breeds, personalities and backgrounds over the years. I am a Canine Good Citizenship evaluator (American Kennel Club) and I am a Tester and observer for therapy dogs ( Alliance of therapy Dogs).
From Rescues to puppies from basic manners to specific problems I have had hands on experience with numerous dogs and people and have dedicated myself to the mantra “Improving the relationship between you and your Canine companion.” Through the years I have trained horses which has taught me many methods and skills that have helped me become a better dog trainer. I have had the pleasure to attend numerous seminars with fabulous people who train and teach agility and obedience (competition and non competition) all over the country and the world. With each seminar I have been able to see other trainers who I trust methods and adapt them into my training to be used for those dogs who specifically need that direction.
In the past I have taught group lessons but through my years have noticed I can only move as fast as the slowest dog is willing to move in the class. I have proceeded with one on ones so that speed of learning, tailoring of lessons and issues being had can be addressed so you and your dog can find your team work together.
Over the years of training so many different breeds, dogs of numerous backgrounds and personalities I have learned that dog training has to be flexible for each individual both human and canine. One method does not cover every dog. So I have dedicated myself to seeing what other trainers that I trust do and the methods they use along with reading articles and books to have the knowledge and skill to help those who are asking for guidance. I don't use every method on every dog but find the right fit as I go forward with the dog and the owner so they can have that lasting relationship. Some methods may seem odd and “out there”, some are considered “old school” but if the dog needs it to help have a “light bulb” moment of “I get it” than it was well worth my time and energy to have that tool of knowledge in my box of training methods to help guide a dog along the path of learning.
