Shooting Star Rabbitry

Shooting Star Rabbitry I began my love for bunnies in 1985 in 4H, I've raised and shown off and on since. I've just gotten back into Netherlands and Jerseys.

I have a very small rabbitry and look forward to raising and showing some quality bunnies.

Had a great time at WCC this year! So proud of little Brooke, my only holland lop in the barn, she took BOSB in one show on Sunday! She’s out of Toby Santistevans last holland lop line. The dwarfs had tough competition this year, but super happy how everyone did. By Sunday they were pretty tired and ready to go home. 2 little hitchhikers came home too! They are so cute, Jasen made them a little house so they’d feel safe❤️now to name them! Thank you Colorful Quackers and Curly Cavies for these 2 cute pet boys❤️

I love my little Dwarfs, but they are not a breed for everyone! They can be tough to get bred, carry a litter to term, have live, viable kits, and raise them to weaning. There’s several genetic issues that can pop up and today we had a not so common one pop up, a hippo. Both parents are show type, mama is proven and has raised 3 litters with no issues. The sire is a first time dad, but I’ve had 2 successful litters from his littermate sister. This little hippo was born DOA, as all I’ve had born here are. They’ve had all the same characteristics also, they actually look like a hippo, short, chubby, no tail and this one had twisting of the limbs. I find it odd they are carried to term, but are DOA at birth. Photos of the kit after the parents pics.
