We could feel the 5.7 earthquake 😳. It lasted a long time. I always get dizzy, before, during and after the earthquakes. 10 so far in 10 minutes! Wow!!!

Here’s something simple that can completely change how your horse feels about training:

Use scratching as a reward.

When your horse does something you like — even something small — instead of just walking away, pause and give them a scratch in a spot they love.

For many horses, a scratch on the withers (the top of the shoulders) feels calming.

But here’s where it gets really interesting…

Most horses have a secret favorite spot.

A place that makes their lip wiggle.
Their eyes go soft.
Their neck stretch out.
That dreamy “scratch face” appear.

When you find that spot — you’ll know.

For my horse, Bella, it’s Inside her ears. 😍

Your horse’s favorite spot might surprise you.

🔎 How to find it

• Try gentle scratches in different areas
• Watch their face and body carefully
• Notice where they lean into you
• Look for lip movement, soft eyes, relaxed posture

When you hit the right place, it feels obvious.

💛 Why this matters

Scratching is more than affection.

It’s communication.

⭐ When you reward a behavior with a scratch your horse truly enjoys, they’re more likely to repeat that behavior.

That’s the foundation of reward-based training.

You’re saying:
“That was a good choice.”

And your horse thinks:
“That felt nice. I’ll try that again.”

It’s simple.
It’s kind.
And it builds connection at the same time.

See if you can find at least two favorite scratch spots on your horse.

You might just discover your new favorite training tool 🐴

We all have our own path through grief.

You are the guardian of that path. 💗

There is no wrong turn. There is no right way.

But here is a truth, also from my grief guru, Dr. Joanne Cacciatore:

“Because the work of grieving is hallowed ground, it is deserving of our pause, our recognition, our hands pressed together at our hearts.”

The work of grief is sacred.

And covered in extraordinary love.

Please remember you are not alone. 💗

** Our prayers rise together for all who are grieving a loss. ✨

A horse is never just an image.
It is a memory carved into the path we once walked together.

It is the quiet of the forest that listened when the world grew too loud.
The rhythm of hooves that matched the beat of a restless heart.
A sunset where freedom and peace finally learned how to coexist.

In its silhouette lives the wind, the road behind us, and the dream that kept pulling us forward.
In the mirror of still water, past and future pause—just long enough to breathe together.

A human and a horse.
Two souls aligned.
Moving in the same direction, even when everything else falls silent.

This is not about riding.
It’s about belonging.

About a connection that needs no words.
About inner freedom that cannot be taken, only felt.
About a journey that doesn’t begin on a trail…
but deep within the heart. 🖤
