We can't let this happen in Nevada! You have to scroll past the letter to get to the meat of the story. Here's an excerpt:

"Clark County is in the process of drafting and attempting to implement new animal regulations again. And this time it's a real doozy. They want to ban the captive breeding of ALL ANIMALS that are not dogs and cats. This will include all reptiles, amphibians, all fish, all birds and all small mammals such as sugar gliders, rabbits, chinchillas, and all rodents (hamsters, rats, mice). The regulation says ALL ANIMALS. This may or may not include INVERTEBRATES, depending on how the county defines animals. That would mean NO tarantulas, roaches, or crickets."

Below is a sample letter to be sent to Clark County officials to show opposition to the proposed ban on the breeding of all animals, other than dogs and cats.

Proposed code changes for dangerous dogs http://www.peakdemocracy.com/2211. Deadline to comment: 10/10. This link is to the dangerous dogs ordinance. FYI, Nevada Crickets has been bird-dogging the proposed changes to the Washoe County Animal Code because they potentially affect owners and sellers of exotic animals, as well as pet stores and trade shows. Weigh in! Let your voice be heard.

So, what I meant to say is that 77℉ is *too cold* for crickets and 70℉ is positively frigid. Louisiana State University researchers wrote this about Acheta domesticus: "Temperature: Below 27℃ [80.6℉] growth is very slow and cricket mortality increases for unknown reasons."

Did you know that crickets thrive best at temperatures between 82℉ and 95℉, and that temps as warm as 77℉ are not good for them? Use a heating device to keep them warm, but don't let them get too hot. 100℉ will stress them out.
