❤️🐾 BONNIE UPDATE – WE HAVE ANSWERS, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, WE HAVE HOPE! 🐾❤️

Remember our sweet, deaf girl Bonnie? The little white puppy with the big heart and an even bigger heart murmur? We finally have some answers following her visit with the cardiologist at BluePearl Pet Hospital.

Bonnie has been diagnosed with severe pulmonary stenosis, a congenital heart defect. In simple terms, the valve that allows blood to flow from her heart to her lungs is severely narrowed. This forces the right side of her heart to work much harder than it should. Over time, this can lead to heart failure, fainting, or even sudden death.

Unfortunately, Bonnie's condition is considered severe. Without medical management, dogs with this degree of pulmonary stenosis have an average survival time of just 1.5 years. That's a pretty devastating prognosis for a puppy who has barely begun her life.

But here's where the hope comes in! ❤️

There is a procedure called balloon valvuloplasty that may significantly improve Bonnie's condition. During the procedure, a specialized balloon is used to widen the narrowed valve, allowing blood to flow more freely and reducing the strain on her heart.

While it isn't a guaranteed cure, a successful procedure could greatly improve Bonnie's prognosis and give her a chance at a longer, healthier life.

Bonnie also has a second, milder heart abnormality, but her cardiologist believes this is less likely to affect her long-term outlook.

So, what's next for Bonnie?

We have made the decision to move forward with the balloon valvuloplasty procedure, and it is officially scheduled for January 26, 2027! ❤️

In the meantime, Bonnie has been started on heart medication to help reduce the workload on her heart while we wait for her procedure.

We know there are risks, and we know there are no guarantees. But Bonnie deserves every opportunity we can give her.

This little girl has already been through so much in her short life. Being deaf doesn't slow her down, and we're determined to give her heart the best chance possible to keep up with the rest of her!

We are hopeful that January 26th will be the beginning of a much brighter future for our sweet Bonnie.

Welcome Sweet Alice!

This amazing gal came to us from Animal Emergency Center (AEC) when her owner was faced with some difficult decisions. We are very thankful they called, as this gal is SO sweet, and ill. They stabilized her and staff loved on her until we moved her to our regular vet.

Please no judgement to owner, believe us when we say, he was devastated. Sometimes the hardest decisions are the right ones and her care is more than he can afford now or in the future.

First off, Alice consumed a towel (picture attached). Our amazing Vets office Kreature Komforts Animal Hospital made room for her on their busy schedule and Dr. Patti did emergency surgery.

Second, she may have EPI, Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency. The test was done, and we will know next week. If not, more questions and more tests.

Many entities and people came forward for Alice, she needs prayers and good thoughts sent her way. A special Thank You to Kim Hern who offered to foster Alice sight unseen. Our fosters are what make this rescue work, and we are so thankful for them.

We try not to ask for money, as we know times are hard for many, but this bill was unexpected and any help would be appreciated. No amount is too small.

Please no applications for Alice right now. We need to figure out all her medical needs over the next few months. Stay tuned for updates.

🐾 SADIE, STILL AVAILABLE — A LITTLE GRAY, A LOT OF SASS, AND A WHOLE LOT OF LOVE! ❤️ SHE’S GOT IT ALL.

At 6½ years young, this beautiful Rottie is living proof that age is just a number!

Sadie has been through some tough times, including neglect and being left outside in freezing temperatures. But despite her past, she hasn't lost her love for people. In fact, she's a full-blown VELCRO ROTTIE! 😂

Going to the kitchen? She's coming.
Heading outside? She's coming.
Need personal space? Sorry, Sadie doesn't offer that service! 🤣

She's playful, goofy, affectionate, and absolutely convinced she's the center of your universe. And honestly, she might just deserve to be!

Now for the fine print: Sadie isn't a fan of most other dogs. She'd prefer to be your one and only furry queen. 👑

What Sadie is looking for:

For anyone wanting to bad mouth Washoe County Regional Animal Services this is the care and love they pour into the animals in their care. Remember....the owners/familys are who fail these animals, we rescues are left to pick up the pieces. Kudos to EVERYONE involved in Mercys healing.
