This is Calypso. She is 3-4 months old and loves to play with her kitty friends. It looks like she is a dog whisperer too! She still gets a bit nervous around people but can be held and picked up. A little patience and love will help her blossom. ๐Ÿ’ž

Wolfie! ๐Ÿ’•

Wolfie might just be one of our biggest transformation stories this year! He started life on the streets and was the last of his litter to be caught. He came in sick, scared, and looking more like a werewolf than a kitten! Hissing and spitting turned to endless purrs and biscuits as he transformed into a fluffy, happy boy. This sweetheart is as friendly as they come and so outgoing. He loves to play and explore and would probably do well with dogs and kids. Because he has so much love to give, he needs to go to a home with another kitten or an openly friendly cat to be his full time companion.

Guess what? Iโ€™m a girl!! My foster mom thought I was a boy. Iโ€™m a little more outgoing than my sister Monica.

Monica
She is still a little shy but allows pets. With some TLC she will come out of her shell.

It just takes ONE person to not walk by.

ONE person to NOT ignore the stray cat.

ONE person to stop and say, โ€œWhat can I do?โ€

We got a call about a momma cat and her kitten in someoneโ€™s front yard. Clearly strays. She was willing to do the work but needed a little help from us. So we provided traps, and gave a little training and went on stand by for anything needed!

That first night, she caught Mommaโ€ฆ and another cat she didnโ€™t even know existed.

Both cats were taken to be fixed through the Washoe County TNR program.

And then we discovered something unexpected.

The โ€œbonusโ€ cat was lactating. She was friendly, had no microchip, and was clearly a cat who had been abandoned and left to fend for herself for years.

We knew she had babies somewhere.
So we put an AirTag on Momma and prayed we could find her kittens. After a LONG day and night of trying to get that AirTag to cooperate, we asked the good neighbor to try something different, a long shot!

She asked Momma to show her where her kittens were. And she did!!!! โค๏ธSometimes cats just know who to trust. โค๏ธ Behind her house in an empty lot filled with cars, trailers etc, 3 little babies looked back wide eyed, scared and bolted immediately!

So we jumped into action.

Three babies needed to be trapped, and the entire family needed a safe place to go.

After a long day in the rainโ€ฆ WE GOT THEM ALL! ๐Ÿฅนโค๏ธ

And last night, for the first time, all four slept safely indoors.

Four lives changed.
๐Ÿ˜ปThey wonโ€™t continue the cycle of making more kittens and colonies.
๐Ÿ˜ปThey wonโ€™t have to face our winters outside.
๐Ÿ˜ปThey wonโ€™t starve.
๐Ÿ˜ปThey wonโ€™t be alone again

They are SAFE.

And all it took was ONE person and 48 hours to change the course of four lives forever.

That is the POWER OF 1.

You donโ€™t have to rescue 100 cats.

You donโ€™t have to have all the answers.

You just have to be willing to stop.

To care.

To ask, โ€œWhat can I do?โ€

Because sometimes, ONE person is all it takes to change everything.

We'd like to spotlight the five adult cats we currently have in our care. All have been rescued from unsafe areas and have been patiently waiting for homes with people who will look beyond their fears and love them for who they are. They have all adjusted to indoor life and are litter trained, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Brad Pitt
Brad is about one and one half years old. He is playful, curious, and while still shy and semi feral, he now allows gentle pets. ๐Ÿ˜ป Heโ€™s fascinated by his fosters's large dogs and feels comfortable around them โ€” a huge step for a cat who once knew only survival. A super sweet boy is in there he just needs more time with a patient owner ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ His brother, Ben, is also available for adoption.

Ben Affleck
Benny is about one and one half years old and is still learning that humans can be kind. He isnโ€™t ready for touch yet, but he watches, listens, and takes in the world around him. His progress is quiet, but itโ€™s real โ€” and he deserves the chance to continue it in a home that asks nothing of him except to exist safely. His brother, Brad, is also available for adoption.

Medusa
Medusa is estimated to be 2-5 years old. She is looking for a soft landing in a quiet home where she can relax and enjoy your company. She loves head scratches and belly rubs. A slow introduction to your entire home is recommended to keep her from becoming overwhelmed.

Ash
Ash is nearly 3 years old. He will allow some brief pets but is much more comfortable with his kitty and dog friends. He loves indoor life, and is hoping to find a home that will love him while respecting his independence. His brother, Remy, is also available for adoption.

Remy
Remy is nearly 3 years old. He loves his kitty and dog friends but prefers to remain independent from much human interaction. He is hoping to find a home where he will be a perfect roommate. His brother, Ash, is also available for adoption.
