URGENT: Tomorrow is the deadline for Spirit and Phantom, and they need your help!

These two beautiful young cats have reached their 3-week limit at PetSmart. If they aren't adopted by tomorrow, they will have to leave the adoption center and head back into foster care.

Spirit and Phantom originally came from a local TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) operation. Because they were so young, we knew they had amazing potential to live happy lives indoors as cherished family members. Sadly, because they are a bit shy, they keep getting passed over. As of today, they have received zero applications.

Here is what you need to know about these sweet souls:

* They are independent! They are not bonded and can be adopted into separate homes.
* They are shy but full of potential. They just need an adopter who understands that the best things in life take a little time and extra TLC.
* You won't be doing this alone! Feral at Heart will be there to provide support, guidance, and tips every step of the way to ensure a smooth transition.

Shy cats often make the most deeply loyal companions once they know they are safe. Let’s change their luck before tomorrow!

Three Friendly Kitties!

Mama Mai is a sweet and affectionate two-year-old mom. While she's been a gentle and attentive mother, she's raised her last litter and is beginning to learn what her future life will be like. She's playing with toys, mock wrestling and cuddling up near people for petting and chin scritches. If you’re a Price Is Right fan, she is named after George Gray's mom!

Grayson, male, 2 months old.
He is a rough and tumble boy who enjoys all toys, but is especially interested in fishing and wand ones. He is a confident kitten who freely comes by for petting and a little lap time.

Misty, female, 2 months old.
She is an active, spunky girl and she loves to wrestle with her brother. She likes catnip toys and little furry mice. She is a sweet girl who enjoys taking at least one daily nap on the couch by her foster for some snuggle time.

🦷 $5 Feral Friday for Chubby Cheeks' Dental Surgery on November 6th! 🦷

Our featured $5 Feral Friday kitty is Mr. Chubby Cheeks, a 2-year-old absolute sweetheart. He came to us after his owner was unable to care for him due to declining health and Chubby Cheeks had begun mostly fending for himself outside.

Chubby Cheeks is a gentle giant who absolutely adores affection. He will jump up on your lap for pets and do figure 8s between your legs while his big motor is going. He is adjusting well to being inside and is really enjoying his scratching post and is using his litter box.

During his neuter appointment, we discovered that Chubby Cheeks has a severe case of stomatitis: a painful inflammation of the mucous membranes in the mouth leading to severe, chronic pain and swelling . The treatment for his severe case is a full dental extraction.

His dental surgery will cost $3,190 for a full extraction. His surgery is what we are dedicating our $5 Feral Friday toward.

🌟 Medical Intake Update - Gibbon

Gibbon was trapped by one of our amazing TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) volunteers, April, at the end of August. We had received a request for a kitten who was screaming outside non-stop and was hurt. April successfully trapped him and it was clear that he needed immediate vet assessment. He was taken to urgent care and he did have some mild swelling in one of his forelimbs, but otherwise x-rays/labwork looked fine. He was so scared, so seeing him move around at the vet was not possible. Our veterinarian-foster offered to foster
him and took him the same night.

She quickly realized that his issues were not due to orthopedic injury, but rather that he had neurologic deficits. He was also covered in fleas.
His deficits are overall mild and have improved some the past 2 months. Dr. Hazelwood quickly fell in love, he fit perfectly into her crew of animals with various medical issues, and she foster failed (AGAIN…😆).

She took him today to the veterinary neurologist to ensure she was not missing anything with his neurologic deficits/need for MRI/etc. The specialist (an incredible doctor at BluePearl) agreed with Dr. Hazelwood’s assessment and suspicion based on her complete neurologic exam - it is very likely he did have a high rise injury of some sort (like falling off a balcony which a lady at the trapping site had told our volunteer may have happened 😥). It caused some mild trauma to his spinal cord at C6-T2 (lower neck, upper thoracic spine). Given he has had no worsening and some improvement, confirmed he is not painful, etc. he should be all good! His mama will continue to monitor closely as he grows and if he worsens at any point, she would then have MRI done.

Gibbon has no idea he is a little bit different - he is more wobbly than a normal kitty, has some weakness in his legs, and mild reduced reflexes in his front legs, however it doesn’t slow him down. He wrestles, plays, jumps, and climbs. He is such a sweet boy and loves to be cuddled. His favorite sibling is Twiggy (for those who remember, he was our medical intake that now has the 3 legs and a partial tail…also a Dr. Hazelwood foster fail😆).

These stories are why we keep doing what we do. Thanks to the lady who reached out to us and April’s dedication, Gibbon’s life was saved. Thanks to all of our community support and donations, we were able to get him immediate medical attention. He will never be scared or hurt ever again. 🥺❤️‍🩹 Here’s to forever sweet boy!

👀 Look at these cuties! 👀

Jack (Little Orange) and Sally (Little Tortie) were rescued from a business complex in Loyalton. They are about 4 months old. Though they started off very scared, they’re learning to trust people through play and churus!

💞 These adorable kitties were spayed and neutered with help from the Round Up Program Local Pet Station. Thank you Pet Station for helping us and other small rescues in the area. 💞

Our October 16th $5 Feral Friday was dedicated to Snuffles, a young kitty who needed extra medical care to remove an eye that could not be saved. Such a sad case, but you came through to help us get her the needed surgery.

She is recovering and doing well at her foster home. They report she is resting comfortably, getting spoiled, taking in the sun, snuggling with her BFF Pirate, and beginning to partipate in some light play.

Her stitches will come out in about a week and she finishes her antibiotics around that same time too.

A sincere thanks to everyone who helped make this possible.

She and Pirate will be posted for adoption when they are ready.

Friendly Community Cats who have decided they are meant for indoor life!

ADOPTED
Rascal: 8 week old female, rescued from a mobile home park after her caregiver's home burnt down and she became displaced. She is very shy and nervous right now but ready for her soft landing and will blossom in her new home.

ADOPTED
Cinnamon: 1 year old female who is a sweet and cuddly little princess.

Grove: 2 year old female, mommy cat to Fern, rescued from living under a trailer.

Fern: 1 yr male, living under a trailer with his mommy, Grove.

These friendly cats can be adopted separately or with another kitty.

They are fun and sweet and the best lap cats!
