Jubilee is showing her pouty face because she hasn’t received any adoption applications and she doesn’t understand why. ☹️

Jubilee is such a sweet and gentle girl! She is easy going and while she has some different needs, her care is not challenging. Bladder expressions 3x a day and help getting in and out of her wheelchair! She’s also small enough to pick up and carry. She gets along with other dogs and loves to play. She also LOVES people and will look at you with the sweetest brown eyes asking for belly rubs and kisses. After being shot in the spine, you’d think she might be scared of new people, but she is all love in the biggest way. We know her special person is out there and we hope they see her cute little face and fill out an adoption application on our website. 🥰

If you’ve been waiting for two little snuggly love bugs to come into your life, well, it’s time for Cheeto and Frito to find their forever home. Our boys are officially adoptable!

Cheeto and Frito must go home together as they are bonded. These two boys have big happy personalities. Everyone who meets them just adores their wiggly excitement!

As far as their care, Cheeto’s hind limbs are impaired and he gets around with his front legs. For Frito, all four limbs are affected and he can get around when he really wants to. Both boys have the ability to potty on their own. Frito needs some assistance holding himself up to potty. They will sometimes wear belly bands while home alone to keep their living area clean. They’ve also gotten very used to baths and the blow dryer because sometimes aiming is hard 😂

If you’re interested in adopting our sweet boys, you can expect their adoption process to take several months. We will walk you through their care, discuss setting up your home to accommodate their needs and make things easier for you, we will discuss long term physical therapy plans and goals (which we would love to continue to be a part of). They will come with all of their supplies including food, supplements, assistive devices, wheelchairs, stroller, and their entire home setup which includes different options for them to potty. They’ve really come so far in the last 8 months and we’re so excited that they’ve become so well adjusted that they are ready to transition into their forever homes! Please reach out with any questions about Cheeto and Frito or our adoption process. We’re here to make sure they and their adopter are setup for success. 🩵

Look at our strong boys! Cheeto and Frito have come so far, not just in their physical strength, but in their anxious behaviors too. Between Frito chewing his foot and Cheeto’s diagnostics, their therapy schedule has been all over the place, but they picked back up stronger than ever.

Cheeto’s ultrasound went well and we are not finding any major concerns. At this point, we are going to revisit getting the boys neutered in another month or two and we will keep an eye on Cheeto’s liver values. We’re also adding in some re**al ozone.

We want to give the BIGGEST thank you to for all the support they’ve given to these special boys. Their round up program helped cover Cheeto’s diagnostics as well as keep both boys in physical therapy. We are incredibly grateful to have the support of the wonderful people at Pet Station and love seeing their impact on our local rescue community. 🩵

I’m beyond heartbroken to be making this post. Colby passed away in his sleep Thursday night. He was doing so well. Healing and improving every day. We had just gotten to the point where it seemed like we were through the hardest part. Healthy tissue had grown back. He was up and walking so well. It seems that he had a cardiac episode overnight and he just passed. Shocked is an understatement and there are no words to describe what it was like finding him lifeless Friday morning. I still can’t believe it. I don’t want him to be gone. Colby was a truly special and happy boy who will be missed so dearly. Thank you all for the love and support you gave him.

It’s official🩵 Wheelbur is on his way home to his new family in Oregon. It could not be a more perfect match for him and we are so excited to see him experience all the new adventures waiting for him.

His Mom has done such an incredible job learning his care and giving him everything he could want and need. We’ve all waited so long for this day and it was well worth the wait to see him 🥹🩵

Cheeto is going in for his abdominal ultrasound today. Keep your fingers crossed for him that we can figure out what is causing high markers in his bloodwork.

35 days.

35 days since Colby made his way to us and we removed his bandage to find a bloody mess where his foot used to be. Exposed metatarsal bones and a raging infection hot to the touch. Our hearts sank as we scheduled his amputation knowing he would lose so much of his already limited mobility. But as the infection went down, Colby started showing more and more how much he relies on his leg to stand and move even without a foot. It didn’t seem fair to make the call to amputate quite yet.

The last month has felt so long. Like months long. So much so that I checked 3 times to make sure I had the dates right. (What year is it at this point?) Changing bandages at least once a day, ozone limb bagging, constantly checking to make sure Colby isn’t ripping his bandage off. Skin and bones dying and falling off to make space for new, healthy tissue to come in. Cleaning parts of a wound I never imagined would even be a thing. Honestly, the whole thing seemed pretty crazy. BUT look at his leg today!!!

For the first time I feel fully like there’s a chance for his leg to heal. And once it does, we can work on helping him figure out his mobility with a limb difference. We still have a long way to go. A lot more bandage changes and sleepless nights. I’m tired, he’s tired. But we’re on our way. Wish us luck over the next 30 days and keep it in your thoughts that we can make another positive update a month down the road. He deserves it so much🩵

Cheeto and Frito update—donations needed! ❤️‍🩹

We had our boys schedule for neuters a few weeks back, however Cheeto’s bloodwork came back with some high markers that we wanted to look into further before putting him under for surgery. Our first step was waiting a couple of weeks and repeating bloodwork to see if it would resolve on his own, but unfortunately his values increased. We are wanting to proceed with an abdominal ultrasound to take a further look into what is going on as his high markers are pointing towards the possibility of liver issues. The estimate for this is sitting right around $1000 (I’ll share the estimate in our stories). Please consider donating so we can make sure our little guy is okay and provide him with any support he needs. We are holding off on neuters for now until we have a better idea of what is going on. Frito’s labs were perfect and he’s, of course, been providing all the moral support for his brother🩵

Sanctuary build update!

The last several months have been all about working on moving permanently to our sanctuary property and making improvements to the current buildings on the land. The main dog house needed drywall repair, flooring repair & replacement, paint, epoxy, baseboards, and some other minor repairs here and there. The supplies to do this cost $2100, and labor was $0 as we did this ourselves. We also purchased and installed a dog wash station for our laundry area which cost $1835. This has been one of the most useful purchases to date as our dogs use it several times a day!

Now that we are fully moved onto the property, we are updating our plan to reflect our most urgent needs. All the building phases are still applicable, but we plan to tackle them as follows:

✅ PHASE 1: Acquire land

PHASE 2 (IN PROGRESS): Play Yards: We are lucky enough to currently have 25,000 sq ft of fenced in play areas just for our dogs! What we are desperately in need of is artificial grass so our paralyzed dogs can safely spend time out of their wheels outside. It will also serve as an additional space for physical therapy.

While we do plan to eventually have several turfed areas, we are going to start with 2000 sq ft and go from there. Our friends at Top Tier Turf are willing to with us to provide a discount so we can get this done! The total cost for our first portion of artificial grass is $15,000. This includes all the prep work like grading, infill, etc. Once we raise the first $7000, we will be able to order the turf and get on the schedule for it to be installed!

PHASE 3 (IN PROGRESS): Utilities

➡️ Clearing Land + Digging Trenches: $0
➡️ Solar power: We are grateful to have received a generous donation of 30 solar panels, so our new budget for installing solar is $10,000.

Phase 4: Rehabilitation Center ♿️

Thank you for helping provide a true sanctuary space for our very deserving dogs! 🩵 To see the full build plan, please visit our GoFundMe.
