Several Mad Ratters were at the PA regional this past weekend.

The sport, in which dogs sniff out live rats in ventilated tubes hidden in hay bales, drew dozens of dogs and their handlers to a regional tournament in Pennsylvania last week.

Branchwater Mad Ratters would like to send a huge CongRATS to one of our junior handlers.
They received their first Puppy this weekend after the ODTC Barn Hunt Trial. Since it is a junior we won’t share a picture of them since this is a public page but their new puppy is super cute! Welcome Triple Scoop (Tripp)to the Mad Ratter Family!

Oriole Dog Training Club is having their ‘summer fun’ Barn Hunt trial this weekend!
Tonight was fantastic! Great way to kick off a trial weekend. Thank you to everyone who helped keep us moving tonight.

we have two weeks till the Branchwater Mad Ratters Fun test!
I’m looking for items to have as part of a raffle to raise money for the club. These items will be on display for the entire fun test. The drawing will be done at the end of the day, you do not have to be present to win but you must be able to pick up your item within 1 week of the event. We can not hold items longer than 1 week due to classes ect.
If you are interested in donating items for the raffle please send me ( Katie ) a message here or send me an email!

Huge thank you to everyone who came out in the snow yesterday for the trial.

We managed to keep the day rolling and we wouldn’t have done it without everyone’s help!

We have some very exciting news!!

Mark Your Calendars!

Branchwater Mad Ratters is a new BHA club and has just been approved to hold our Fun Test at Branchwater Farm in Reisterstown MD on Sunday, April 12, 2026. This is the same site used by Oriole Dog Training Club.

We will be offering a single test with Instinct, Novice, Open, Senior, and Master classes. Because this is a fun test with no qualifying scores awarded, dogs do not have to be registered with BHA and may be entered at any level regardless of the dog's current titling level. At this Fun Test, we are allowing a dog to be entered in 2 runs total in any combination of classes. For example, a dog could be entered for 1 run in Novice and 1 run in Open or 2 runs in Senior.

Entries open on March 2, 2026 and close on March 30, 2026.
