A daily conversation with Trace 🤣

Because there’s nothing worse than stopping at your local Chick-fil-a for a treat after a long day & having your horse demand to get out as soon as the truck stops🫡🤣
jk jk, but really, building tolerance and patience in the trailer is an art, not a science.
What are some things you do to make the trailer a more relaxing space for your horse? Would love to know⬇️

straight from the horses’ mouth…👀🤫
except they ARE working & teaching lessons again, don’t let them totally lie to you😉😂
I have 1 more opening for lesson clients in May & 2 for June, if you’d like to come “work” with us!💃❤️

Officially one week into spring foundation work for these two boys, and they’ve already come so far🌱🐴
Trace, the black Quarter Pony, is a therapy pony at and also doubles as a rodeo pony. He’ll be with me through the end of May while we focus on boundaries, consistency, and sharpening up the fundamentals for all the different jobs he does at home!
Cinder, the red roan Quarter Horse/Cowhorse gelding, will be here through June getting a solid foundation put underneath him. He is trail partner & has so much potential, a kind personality, and has already started settling into the routine so well.
Both boys are around 7 years old, learning something new every day, and have already become fast friends. They each have their own goals and areas we’re working on, and I’m excited to keep sharing their progress and growth along the way.
A huge thank you to both of their owners for trusting me with these horses and allowing me to be part of their journey, it means more than I can say❤️

Meet Smokey ✨
I picked up this sweet pony at the request of his previous owners to help find him a new home (& a job!) after some fencing challenges (a little food FOMO included).
He’s grade and approximately 9 years old, likely somewhere along the Mini/Shetland spectrum. He’s lived with horses and goats, enjoys getting out on the trail, and packing a might just be his calling.
He’s also extremely friendly… which can sometimes come with a little pushy. So far, he’s settling in really well here at GWC and already adding a lot of laughter just watching him in the herd 🥹
I’ll be putting some time into him this spring, learning what he enjoys, and he’ll eventually be listed for sale.
For now, he’ll also be part of my groundwork lessons—perfect for those wanting to build confidence and refine the basics without intimidation.
Also very curious to see what color he sheds out to be… it’s been fun guessing with you all so far 🤪🤞🏻

First annual St. Patrick’s Day “Saddlebag Scavenger Hunt” (a day late🤪) & spring bath day that I don’t think we’ll forget this one anytime soon 🤣🍀🐴
I’ve been quietly working on this idea for a while, wanting to create something that feels a little more intentional than just a ride, but still fun, still seasonal, and still rooted in good friends & good training.
Five salvaged coffee cans, a handful of clues, and a trail that asked for focus, patience, and a horse willing to think through something new.
It ended up being such a fun way to work on real things, handling, confidence out on the trail, standing tied, paying attention, all wrapped up in something that actually felt like a game.
Kira was such a good sport through all of it, steady, patient, and ready to give feedback at the end🤣
I think there’s something here…
a way to bring a little more fun and seasonality into our days, without losing the purpose behind it 🍀✨

Some days are loud & unpredictable, but most of ours tend to be pretty quiet🌾🌱⛅️
This is the little herd that holds the heartbeat of our life out here in the high desert. Roog, Juni, & Warrior.
I had hoped to share the full video sooner, but it took longer than I expected, thank you for your patience & understanding as I learn to produce these longer videos.
The full “Meet the Herd” video is now live on our YouTube channel. We hope you’ll come spend a little time with us - link below❤️🐴

Red lipstick. Frosty air. Dragon ponies. 💋❄️🐴
For the spirit of Galentine’s, we bundled up, swiped on bold red, and gave our horses a few extra kisses before riding out (thanks to .baer creative ideas!!)
Cold hands. Warm hearts. Women who show up for each other.
This one felt like magic.

The kind of winter days that feel like a glimpse of spring☀️
Warm sun, quiet chores, easier moments outside.
I am feeling excited for spring and so grateful for this stretch of sunshine, but still hoping our quiet winter lingers just a little longer. More snow for the sake of the land we love, and water to aid the warmer seasons ahead.
After a 10-week winter break, the ponies and I are back out in the barn and easing into a good rhythm again,
slowly bringing everyone (myself included) back into shape.
I am working on a Spring launch of a regular on-property lessons schedule (private & groups!!), horse training & consignment availability, & off-property trail training rides for existing clients who are ready to prep for heading up to the mountains this summer (more details to come!)🏔️🐴
I am still open for a limited number of off-property lessons if you’re in need while the weather holds, just reach out when the time feels right for you & your equines! ☀️❄️

Popping out of our winter den to say hello today! ❄️
Yes, all of us PNW-ers know it’s still winter, the hoses frozen, the freezing frost thick, and the horses are still sporting icicles in their manes, tails, and whiskers every morning.
The last week has been shrouded in frozen fog, and today, we finally got a peek of the sun, a well received gift in the middle of all this frozen magic.
While we wait for the official start of the 2026 season, we’re using this time like the Year of the Horse itself: shedding, refining, and preparing for what’s ahead.
There’s a lot happening behind the scenes as I am developing a calendar for group lessons, clinics, camps, and trail adventures, and one of my hopes is finding an indoor arena nearby to teach in for the remainder of winter, it’s still a dream, but it feels like the right next step🤞🏻
For now, we’re just soaking in these quiet, sparkly mornings and the small joys they bring.
Hope everyone is staying warm!!❄️
