Boris’s road to recovery hasn’t been easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding. After being relinquished to our hospital, he initially required an emergency enucleation. Thanks to a wonderful twist of fate, he found his perfect forever home and recently came back to see us at the Veterinary Emergency Center of Redlands for life saving BOAS surgery.

What is BOAS?
Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome affects flat faced breeds (like Frenchies and Pugs), causing severe, life threatening breathing distress.

To relieve this, our surgical team performed a corrective procedure to:
• Widen his nostrils (stenotic nares)
• Shorten an elongated soft palate
• Remove excess throat tissue

The result? Boris is now recovering beautifully, resting comfortably, and finally breathing easy. Providing this level of specialized care and ensuring the best quality of life for our patients is exactly why we do what we do. Thank you to our amazing team for making stories like Boris’s possible! 💙

Happy Veterinary Assistant Week to the incredible team members who help keep our hospital running every single day! 🩺🐾

From comforting nervous pets and supporting our doctors and technicians, to helping clients through stressful moments, veterinary assistants play such an important role in patient care. Their compassion, dedication, and hard work never go unnoticed.

Thank you for everything you do behind the scenes and on the front lines to help our patients feel safe, loved, and cared for. We appreciate you today and every day! 💙

This sweet baby possum was found alone after their mother was sadly found deceased. One of our amazing team members stepped in to provide warmth, comfort, and supportive care while we coordinated transfer to a wildlife rescue for continued rehabilitation.

Wildlife situations like these remind us how important compassion and quick action can be. We’re grateful this little one now has a second chance and the specialized care needed to continue growing strong. 🐾

Thank you to the dedicated rescuers, rehabbers, and veterinary teams who help protect wildlife in our community every day.

This Mother’s Day, we’re reminding pet parents to stop and smell the flowers safely 🌸💐

While floral arrangements make the holiday beautiful, some popular blooms can be toxic to our furry family members if chewed or ingested. Lilies, tulips, daffodils, and other common flowers may pose serious risks to pets especially curious cats and dogs.

As you celebrate the moms in your life, please keep bouquets, plants, and floral decor safely out of reach. A little extra awareness can help prevent an unexpected trip to the emergency hospital and keep the holiday happy for everyone.

If you believe your pet may have ingested a toxic plant, contact your veterinarian or emergency veterinary hospital immediately and call ASPCA Pet Poison Control line.

Wishing everyone a safe, beautiful, and pet-friendly Mother’s Day 💕
