Lady Darla was one of my inspirations to become a therapy dog. She has now joined me on the other side of Rainbow Bridge. The Count and The Lady are together forever. I can now show her my appreciation in person since we never met on earth.
Her little sister, Eva, carries on our tradition of making others smile.
This is Darla's Mom Sue. I am heartbroken to share that my precious love of my life, Lady Darla, peacefully departed this Earth around 10 am this morning and crossed the Rainbow Bridge. She was welcomed by her loving sisters Ivy, Emmy, and Nova.
Although I knew this time was drawing near, I hoped and prayed that she would still be with us on her Gotcha Day, August 25th, but sadly that was not to be. Seeing her devour her DQ cone last night with her signature Lady D gusto will be one of my most precious memories of her ❤️
This photo is from early this morning, after Darla communicated (in the way that only dogs can do) that the time had come to join her sisters at the Rainbow Bridge. I won't go into details at this time as I am struggling to put it all into words. She suddenly started to go downhill quickly during the night and I curled up with her and comforted her and looked into her beautiful crystal blue eyes and talked to her all night about many of the wonderful memories of her spectacular life. I had to keep my promise to her that I would grant her that final gift of eternal peace when she asked, no matter how much it broke my heart.
At this moment I am utterly gutted and lost without my baby D. Our whole Pack is grieving deeply as we try to find our way in a world without her. Please understand that we may not be able to respond to calls, texts, emails, and PMs right now but they are SO very appreciated and treasured. We will be back sharing our stories very, very soon as well as sharing some wonderful memories of Darla's amazing life.
