Why is a "Purpose-Bred" Doberman Pinscher important when you are choosing a puppy?
First, there are multiple studies regarding "Purpose-Breeding" Medical Service dogs and the benefit to their owners, not to mention the benefit to the dog and the selection processes. For one such research article, follow this link:

Next, you might be asking, why a "Purpose-Bred" Doberman Pinscher? Well there is not breed on the planet that is more loyal, more intelligent, more trainable (with the proper methodology), more athletic, more energetic, more observant, more determined, more fearless, or more obedient than a properly trained Doberman Pinscher. Just watch the movie The Doberman Gang (based on a true story) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068491/
And why, especially during WWII, did the Marines prefer the Doberman over most of the other breeds - the story of Kurt, the dog who saved Guam, highlights why the Marine Corps had primarily Dobermans on the battlefield. See more here:

So why is Purpose breeding important to you? Because not only do you know that the breeder is VERY knowledgeable about their dogs and what your puppy will most likely grow up to be, but they can also guide you with expectations as they grow. Further, you know this breeder has dedicated TIME, MONEY, blood, sweat, and tears (so many tears) in developing dogs that will live long healthy lives in the jobs they were intended to do -- or as great pets. Usually, the dogs that MIGHT NOT make Service Graduation Day are always incredible pets.
So why are these dogs more expensive than a CKC dog, or some other non-AKC Doberman, or even other AKC Dobermans that are not bred with purpose? While we can't speak for everyone, I can tell you that here, at Leprechaun Lane's Doberman Pinschers we have spent thousands of dollars on our breeding dogs - purchasing, vet, training, and more; we have spent thousands of hours researching and developing the right balance of genetics; we have spent money training and educating ourselves; we pup in training on the neonatal puppies and do lots of preparation, at our own expense, to get these puppies ready for you and much, much, more - not to mention the endless vet bills. We do all of this, not to get rich, but because we have a passion that drives us to create the best dogs that ever lived.
Choose dogs that have a Purpose - even if your main purpose is just to have a great companion - training will be easier, and your life will be happier.
I apologize for the length, but this needs to be known.
